Animation complete and New York sneak peak

Character animator Arslan Elver reports on his blog that VFX animation for The Golden Compass is now complete. In addition, the official film blog tells us the upcoming New York Film Festival will salute New Line’s 40 years of film on the 5th October at the Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Time Warner Center. The Gala event will include a sneek peak of The Golden Compass, scheduled for a winter release. Read more.

Daemons in The Golden Compass Videogame

Gamespy have a new gameplay video of The Golden Compass videogame. It shows the game’s “daemon mechanic”, which entails using Pantalaimon to solve various puzzles and progress through the game environment. This video has Pan in sloth form. You can watch it below.

Wrangling on The Golden Compass Set

“Asset Wrangler” David Allen has begun a blog on IGN about his experiences as Sega’s representative on the set of The Golden Compass. Allen’s duty for the videogame developer was to liaise with New Line and make sure the developers were kept up to date with the latest design and progress of the movie. His introductory post relates, “I’ve seen witches flying en masse through frozen skies and heard armoured fighting bears talk. I even sat on the throne of the king of the bears himself. I’ve held an actual truth-telling alethiometer in my hands and followed in the footsteps of an unknowing hero with the weight of the world on her shoulders.” Read more.
