mmm I like. Eva Green looks good as Serafina. London looks a little futuristic, but still impressive.
I love the picture of Roger on the roof, but I really don't like how futuristic they're making the city. I always pictured Lyra's world behind our world (that's why the have the market place and still travel by "sledge" in the North), not in front! I still have high hopes for this film, especially since the portrayl of the city shouldn't ruin the film any.
yeah, the zeppelin and city are…interesting. I dunno, i don't really like them.
but Roger looks really cute.
and the alethiometer is awesome.
and I'm seeing Sally Lockhart tonight 🙂
Slowest image gallery ever! I'll see if I can get ahold of the images properly from someone.
It wasn't slow for me… Hmm.
just finished watching sally lockhart
it was pretty good, but it missed a lot of the cute character development parts. i like JJ Feilds, he has a very charming and adorable look about him, as Fred should. i never really liked ruby in the smoke that much; i love the rest of the series. i can't wait until shadow!
I like. Very intrigued by picture #20, what scene could this be?
The futuristic look makes sense because of the stress on science in the series, but I don't think it reflects AT ALL Pullman's portrayl of London in the books. I got a very Sally Lockhart time-frame in the early-mid 20th century (sorry if my timeframe is off on the books, read them when I was like 10… now i'm 22)
all i can say is
BRING ON THE MOVIE !!!
🙂
I like the, especially the new Lyra ones, but I abolutely HATE the one showing an arial of Jordan. Or maybe it's Lyra's oxford. It looks like it came out of Star Wars. Sheesh.
That cityscape is supposed to be London, apparently.
:wassat: i don't like the roger one….. he looks a little too young…….. but i loved the pic of lyra looking at the camra thing….. can't wait for the movie……..
crazy_stunt_girl, isn't that the whole point of lyra's world? It is behind us in a lot of aspects, but has developed differently so obviously it will be more advanced in certain areas.
I love these pics. I can't get over how kidman looks so brilliant as coulter. And dakota may not LOOK like the lyra in the books completely, but you can see even from the stills she's captured her energy perfectly.
Like when Lyra comes out of the cinema in Will's world and says "That was the best thing i ever seen. We got some things better than you, but not that" (or something to that effect, am quoting from memory here).
Thank you so much for deleting those comments!
I hope that won't happen again, i'm sorry, i got really pissed off.
Anyways, i L.O.V.E. the stills!
my favorite is the one that lyra's looking at th camara thing! really…
I CANNOT WAIT 'TIL DECEMBER! lol
*gasp*I LOVE IT!!!! i liked how oxford looked-it was like in the future and the past had fused together!
but what was that bear, who was it?was it lufor?if it was lorek-the armor dosent suit him at all..and if its lufor,i expcted more gold…what does anyone else think?
The armoured bears are "animal manifestations of peoples' souls"??
QUOTE mysterygal "but what was that bear, who was it?was it lufor?if it was lorek-the armor dosent suit him at all..and if its lufor,i expcted more gold…what does anyone else think?" I think it is Iorek. They have changed a lot from the books but i alway imagined Iofur much bigger than that, and with more gold. But either way it looks AWESOME
My brother, who has never read the books, looked over my shoulder at the still of the city and said, "Woah. That looks like… London or someplace. Like in a Jules Verne novel."
Need I go on?
To Annabel, yes, I suppose that would make sense to try and distinguish between the 2 worlds a bit more; it's just I never got any indication from the writing that Lyra's world was ever more advanced than ours. I always figured it was late 19th century, especially with the primitive transportation and the science being "behind" ours, so to speak (recently mapping ocean currents, and flying over North Pole). Maybe I was off base, but that's how I interpreted it . Maybe they're making it more futuristic to steer away from the Narnia-istic vibe it could otherwise have given off… who knows?! Needless to say, it's not a big deal at all in the scheme of things (especially when compared to the religion element, etc), but it's probably a good thing I have a while to get used to the idea…. I concur with you on your previous point, and thanks for clearing it up a tad! Can't say I enjoy it any less, but at least it's not so intrusive to my perspective of the story. Sorry about the essay; I ramble when I'm tired .
I'm going to be the minority here, but I actually like London 🙂
Man, I'm also going to be a minority here, but I do wish they had've gone ahead and dyed Eva Green's hair blonde. :wassat: 🙁
OK,
WILL!, or anyone else, PLEASE,
this person is still saying she's me.
understand this honey:
it takes more than that to be me.
YOU'RE NOT ME
Get a life 🙂
ok, dear?
I love Eva as Serafina
Actually, i pictured serafina with dark hair, so it's great for me.
Well, all in all, I guess I really don't care what color they've made Serafina Pekkala's hair in the movie. Because it'll be Eva Green's acting that counts in the end, right? 🙂 I think I must have probably just been looking for something to bitch about earlier, when I made that post. :wassat:
well……I'm glad that gold "sheer" top of Kidman's is ONLY a top and not a dress. It looks better seeing it as a two piece.
I love it. The only thing I'm unsure of is the style of Iofur's armor around his face. The rest looks awesome, but I'm a little weary of the spiky horn things on Iofur's helmet.
mm…thats what i was thinking about lufor too.
QUOTE:TO:Reedie_Belacqua_THE REAL ONE-
yes,ive had someone use my name too,he/she said some mean stuff about dakota when her first pic came out-s/he confessed his/her name was "bill the kid"so im with ya Reedie_Belacqua_THE REAL ONE.i hope this asshole gets a life and leaves us alone.
You know, I'd actually been thinking about the exact same thing the other day when I was daydreaming in math class: what if some idiot decided to steal our personal identity, so to speak, as we're commenting on the BTTS news, and decides to completely wreak havoc with it? :wassat: 🙁 It's not too good a thought!
Umm.. Is it just me or are all the pictures in the bottom right hand corner and missing chunks for a reason?
Also i don't like the bears..
CGI is botched and armour is… lacking
But i'm presuming that's conceptual?
yes, mine did that-the pictures were at the bottom corner of the screen-you need to do this:
when the pic shows(this is if its in the corner)go to the next picture and when that shows(probably in the corner again) go back to the previous picture.a loading bar should appear… and vola!
OHH! OHH!!!!i just thought of why they did lufor's armor that way!if they did it like in the book with a big feather and more gold-people who havent red the book would get the impression that he's and elegant king or something like that.the producers didnt want that so gave him spikes and plain patterns to make him more evil looking-anyway,thats my opinion. 🙂
Maybe, but it could just be a replica of what they are gonna look like in the movie. Though i do completely agree, i think the feather would wuold look way over the top. I mean movies these days are usually off by a lot. Someone could write down something plain and simple and out of nowhere it would turn from cat to yellow, spotted, 3 ft tall jaguar. But still it's the coolest picture ive ever seen
all this talk about the world looking too futuristic is plain bulls**t. it is DIFFERENT. whereas we have phones, maybe thaey have weird steam machines. anyway, i'm sure all of you will agree that it is like nothing you've ever seen before – which is precisely how it's meant to look.
It takes place in a paralel universe, why does everyone think it should just look like our universe in the early 20th century?
