Lee's clothes are cool though. Even if he's way too old. Look's a little crazy here too. And too... modest (for lack of a better word). Look's like he's tipping his hat... I kind of got the impression that he was kind of, like Annabel said more lower-classman, and it's hard to explain. But not like that.

Just checked IMDB and Sam Elliot is listed as playing Lee. Although he is older that I'd imagined, he's a great actor with the most wonderful voice and kind but melancholy nature. Excellent chioce - here's his page http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000385/

Perhaps pink in her world is not a girly colour and they arent tights but thick socks that go up her leg.
All you people who keep picking at the film really do need to let it go. Stop scrutinising everything, its gonna be different from what you thought and believed in the book... accept it! Every1s imagination is different. They have good people working on this film to make it right, Im pretty sure they aren't gonna screw it up. Just believe in them to deliver a good peice of cinema.

I always pictured Lee Scorseby with brown or salt and pepper hair. Also a little more lean and capable. This guy doesn't really match my image but Pullman has been said to adore him, so maybe he will do well. Maybe he will capture Lee's essence and characteristics, even if he is an old geezer.

Lyra didn't pick her clothes when she was with the gyptians, John Faa or Ma Costa bought them for her OR those clothes may be the ones that Mrs coulter gave her, and she didnt pick them either!! Coulter did!

In the picture it clearly shows that Lee is hardly appearing in front of her, because he's holding his hat in form of warm greeting.
SO how do you expect Lyra to attack him with questions immediately?!

you should do this kind of critics when you've seen the movie, okay?
You can't assume things like that or you'll create a wrong image of the final product!

Look at that! Look at the intricate detail in the boxes! The carvings, the stamp going to who-knows-where! Look at how Lyra's mittens are frayed, like they're hand-me-downs or like she's already gotten into a scrape with them. This is Lord of the Rings-level intricacy here.
And I like Lee's courtesy here - he's likely heard a tale or two of her exploits, and besides, cowboys should know how to treat a lady proper.

Hasn't anyone noticed that all the Gyptians in the film are wearing brightly couloured clothes that stand out anyway, (Colours like PINK) So if they put Lyra in clothes that are brown or a colour that would satisfy you people, then she would stand out even more against the in-your-face- Gyptians. Also, these clothes ARE NOT PINK!! She is wearing a mixture of colours like brown, pinky red, blue and purple all done up in a beautiful and stylistic knitted garment, so everyone shut up and look closely at the picture before you start bitching that "uurgh, she's pink!"
note: this is an alternative world, so who says that pink is an ultra feminine colour here??

even though Lee is old, I didn't picture him that old.... and even if Pullman loves Lyra, EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN VIEW OF CHARACTERS. There is NO right or wrong for everybody. There IS right or wrong for individuals, but this is a movie that will be viewed by millions of people.... don't get too mad at others who have different views... everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

I must admit he is not what I imagined him to look like, but when he acts you will see the true Lee Scoresby there!
