erm... hb I think that mrs Coulter is the one they got the most wrong appearence wise (not that I care coz Nicole Kidman is perfect to play her) She is meant to have black hair and brown eyes not blond hair and Blue eyes. Although you probably wouldnt know that because it seems that you havnt read the books lol

OMG I can't even begin to fathom what a travesty they would make this movie if they cast KEIRA KNIGHTLY as mrs Coulter. Especially with that stupid pout thing she has got going... what the hell is that all about?! As for Dakota Fanning... if there is one thing they want to avoid, its making this film as cheesy and stupid as they made the Narnia film and by casting Dakota as Lyra, they would succeed in doing just that to our brloved HDM. Also, would Dakota Fanning be able to pull off a convincing common english girl accent? Thank god they didn't cast Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) as Lyra like someone commented on another picture, we really would be screwed then !! btw I have never seen Uptown gurls, sounds good, I'll have to rent it!!

Uptown Gurls (with an i) is great!!! You have to rent it.

Lol ! Death to those who cast Emma Watson!! I agree that Emma Watson is over dramatic, but I have only seen her acting in the Harry Potter films as Hermione, and her character is waaaaaaaaay too over dramatic anyway ! So maybe it is just the character she is playing that makes her over dramatic. Also she IS way to old and looks absolutely nothing like Lyra, as Reedie said, she hasn't even got the messy hair anymore!!

Has anybody read that 'Emma Watson is growing up beautiful infront of the camera' article in the paper. I very almost puked when I read that. Smother anyone in makeup, air brushing and hair product and they will 'grow up beautiful'. I hate girls covered in all that crud.

I'll second that comment Thor, i personally cannot stand make up and air brushing. It so freeking fake. I think that Dakota should have a few spots by the third film any way as she is "reaching adolesence", major part of the book if you havn't noticed, and Lyra would not worry herself about such things as covering or hiding spots any way.

You can tell they are trying to keep faithfully to the story overall. They talked with Pullman himself and everything. I really don't mind if they change the name of a minor character or two.
Anyway, what did you guys think of the extended preview? I don't think I've been so excited for this since I first heard it would become a movie!

If you like the book so much why does it matter what everyone else thinks of it? Why does it matter how Dakota acts *outside* of the movie?
Anyway, at first I wasn't sure about the idea of Freddie Highmore for Pan's voice. But now I'm glad they did it because then we can hear Pan's voice and manner develop as Lyra's does. I also have more faith in the actors for Lee and John Faa. =]
