The Republic of Heaven

The Cat and Will + daemon idea

Discuss the second book of the trilogy

Postby Starshade » Thu Jul 17, 2003 1:47 pm

The daemon issue is quite strange it could have been Will's daemon in the first instance in the effect of it leading him home and then he came to his senses and realised that there was something strange in between the hornbeam trees. Just me...?

another thing. once youre able to see your daemon, everyone else can too?thats the impression i got from Dr. Malone and Jopari (cept Jopari's an exceptionsince hes got all these mad shaman powers) And you can learn to see other peoples daemons but they cant see them? when you think about it thats really deep considering that daemons are part of your soul

No, only dæmons from Lyra's world can be seen by everyone after they become visible. Pan would be visible to everyone, but Kirjava wouldn't be automatically visible to anyone, except Will and people from Lyra's world.

No I believe that Kirjava was able to be seen by anyone, but Mary Malone's Alpine Chough was only able to be seen by those who know how to look for hidden daemons

Yeah, I agree.

Will always had a daemon like everyone else, it was just invisible. Abandoning Kirjava in the world of the dead just brought her out of him, making her visible. Mary's isn't visible because she didn't go through the world of the dead like Will did.

Something else that works is the ALT thing, but type 0230. Anyway, at the end of TAS, Serefina Pekkla says specifically "They won't see yours or Will's, though, unless you teach them as I've taught you." I'd really like to know how to achieve that special state of mind. As I understand it, if you practice and do it right, aside from seeing your dæmon, you could eventually travel between the multiple worlds, like the angels do. Xaphania said something along those lines.

Yeah, your conciousness at least could go anywhere with the Dust, like Mary started doing (except at that point the Dust was flowing into the abyss, so not good...).

I don't think the cat was his dæmon that led him to the portal because lyra could see this cat wear she didn't seem to reconise his demon when she could see it. And also when that cat was being heart bye the children in the offer world he couldn't feel it's pain wear when pan got heart lyra could feel his pain. And the description sounded different as well.

sorry about the original bad post I put hear Angel of follow.
Hope this ones better.
