Wired have an interview with the lead designer on The Golden Compass videogame, Shiny Entertainment’s Dax Berg. The designer is questioned about the difficulties of developing a licensed property, noting that “in a licensed title what you deliver can be contradicted every step of the way by each individual that has had access to the previous content.” The team’s goal, he states, iis to “have the look and visual feel in line with New Line’s production and also produce gameplay and narrative immersion that makes the books such a huge success.” Read more.

One new screenshot came along with the interview, which you can view by clicking the thumbnail to the left.

I very much enjoyed reading that thorough interview. It has certainly increased my excitement for this game!

The manner in which he answered the questions given certainly reflects his passion for the source material – hopefully that translates into a very delightful video game experience for fans, as has happened with the Harry Potter games from Electronic Arts. The critics may not embrace them wholly, but they are just immersive and deeply enjoyable for those passionate about the source material anyways.

Yeah, i agree with Yokota, i hope they make the game as good as the harry potter series, and not like your average film-game which is normally strewn together and has basic graphics and turns out to be rubbish.

I’m sure they’ll make it good, but if it isnt, then it doesnt matter because the booksare already brilliant, and the film looks brilliant.
