The Book of Dust in Two Parts?
Posted on by Bethan

Philip Pullman has exclusively revealed to BridgeToTheStars.Net that the long-awaited Book of Dust may be written in two parts. He told BTTS that “I’m now thinking in terms of two volumes, one to go before HDM, as it were a prequel, and the other to follow it.”

Pullman has been working on The Book of Dust since 2004 and has described it as a “big, big book.” He mentioned his continuing work on it in a speech he gave recently defending Oxfordshire’s Libraries. “I was trying to find out where all the rivers and streams ran in Oxford, for a book I’m writing called The Book of Dust. […] I managed to find some old maps that showed me exactly what I wanted to know.”

Sraffies have been waiting with bated breath for news of The Book of Dust and what it might contain. This snippet of information might just be enough to tide us over for another year or so.

Cool! Did you send a letter, email, or what? Did he say anything else? 🙂

OMFG I can’t believe this!!! SO GREAT!! If it’s two books it means that maybe he’ll finish the first one first and release it, and then finish the second one. It means we don’t get to wait the whole thing to be finished so we can put our hands on it. That’s good news, ’cause the waiting is so cruel. Also, I guess the “prequel” idea means that we’ll see more of the already deceased ones – Lee, Marisa, Asriel! Please Phil, give us mooooore infoooo.

I guess great writing can’t be rushed, and I have no doubt this will be brilliant. That said, don’t make us wait any longer than we have to!

Yesss! This gives me hope that it’ll actually come out soon! I’m reallyyy glad he’s writing one as a prequel because we’ll get to see more of the characters I reallyyy liked, particularly Asriel and Marisa. I’m excited 🙂

Ya me estaba dando miedo que no pudiera terminar el libro y philip pullman muriera sin haberlo terminado.
Quiero saber como se conocieron asriel y marisa, ademas de lo que los impulso a tomar todas sus decisiones.

Oh, I’ve read the dark materials and I absolutely love them. Such a magic that comes out of these books because with magic they are written. The emotion is so huge that one could say that some dust came out of the books and made my eyes lay some tears at some point… I really look forward to the book of dust… Please mr Pullman, hurry up…

  9. Max says:
