HDM BirminghamThe Birmingham Repertory Theatre is to stage the His Dark Materials stage play next year (2009) according to the Birmingham Post. The play which will have a respectable run of four weeks between March 13th and April 11th next year, will be directed by Rachel Kavanaugh. She is quoted as saying “We are one of the few theatres that can revisit these really large-scale projects … It gives us a chance to really use our large stage.” Nicholas Wright and Philip Pullman are both said to pleased at the opportunity to revisit the play on a larger scale. Tickets can be booked already through the theatre’s website (where you can also see further details about prices and timings) here. Read more about it here.

It’s nice that England still gets these productions, but shameful none of them are done in North America

I wrote a review on amazon.com. Very short, but I gave the movie 5 stars and expressed that the dvd sales are important. Maybe some more can do this, so the overall expression of the movie on amazon.com is better and some more consider to buy it. And with the yes-button of “Was this review helpful to you?” we can push our reviews on the front page.

We have to try everything we can. Come on!

I booked my tickets last week to see this show during Easter and am really looking forward to it – I just visited the Birmingham Rep site to check the location map and see that the show has been extended for a week. But the main reason for leaving this comment is that I see that not only has the show been extended but there is to be a ‘Spot Light Special with Philip Pulman’ on the 24th March 2009 when [it says]: “Philip Pullman talks about his epic trilogy His Dark Materials in this special Spotlight. A must for all fans of the books and for anyone new to the novels. Tickets for this event are just £3, the proceeds of which will go toward’s the theatre’s fundraising efforts.” Sadly, I will not be able to go on that date, but hopefully other fans will be interested.
