Thanks to Mockingbird on the forums who has reported that a further poster like photo, with a face on shot of Dakota Blue Richards and Nicole Kidman, has been posted on iMdb. It has not been verified by New Line, but it does appear genuine. It is supposedly taken from promotional material which has been sent to cinemas. Click the thumbnail to see it in full. Rubbish π the book describes Lyra as being very very blonde and Mrs Coulter as being brunette and altho in my head they were the other way round im not impressed in the slightest and that is my opinion and i dont care wat any of you think because after all it is my opinion π ooo new line are so going to ruin wat could have been a beautiful film… shame *sob sob*

No its not that volta, im concerned that with recent events, religious terrorists etc, that they will cut all the religion from the film, or at least a lot of it and it will detract from the story, thats wat i was getting out altho i can c how u wud have thought i was making a snap judgement based on a picture

Well, I've just checked with a friend who met her and he says it looks like her, so the pic must be genuine.
And she still looks like the girl I saw in the Oxford pizza restaurant – only a bit more 'poshed up'. π

Wow, I don't know why everyone thinks Lyra looks wrong because she's perfect.
People are of course entitled to their own opinions, however irrational, narrow-minded and ultimately degenerate they are.
I do, perhaps vainly hope that, in their infinite wisdom, they realise that the chances of Dakota turning out to look like 'their' Lyra would be several million to one. And also that 'their' Lyra is not THE Lyra. But merely their own unique vision of her. Key word there being unique.
I am sorry, but if you thought for one moment that Dakota should be 'your Lyra' then you are nothing but ignorant. Open your mind to more than one possibility for once.

Lyra was 'dark blonde' not very very blonde.
I was a bit disappointed with the Lyra they chose but again, its understandable, no one usually ever picks people that look just like the characters in the books, its impossible! Nicole Kidman looks strange- not as glamorous as i thought she would- but she's a convincing actress, so hopefully will fill the role perfectly. does anyone know what role paul bettany has?

No. Don't you remember in the book when Mrs. Coulter takes some of her hair while she's sleeping? It is described as a curl. Hence she has curly hair. More disturbing is the fact that her hair is tidy π

Hey, ok, does anyone rememberme? probably not. I posted on here end of march/april, when I auditioned. I used to post everyday. After I didn't get a call, I just stopped writing…so, Lyra looks different, not how I imagined, especially with the brown curly hair, but you know, hopefully she can act. Let us wait and see xx

This picture makes me feel much better about Dakota as Lyra. In the first photo shet somehow seemed too young and innocent (yes, I know that's the point). I pictured Lyra a bit more mischievious. Here, somehow, she looks less like a little kid. Now I can kind of see her in all the other scenes from the book.
