Thanks to Mockingbird on the forums who has reported that a further poster like photo, with a face on shot of Dakota Blue Richards and Nicole Kidman, has been posted on iMdb. It has not been verified by New Line, but it does appear genuine. It is supposedly taken from promotional material which has been sent to cinemas. Click the thumbnail to see it in full. I like Dakota much better now than I did in her profile shot, and really I'm more interested in her acting chops than her hair. I think Kidman looks a wonderful Coulter, and I don't even like Nicole Kidman.

um….i know like Phillip Pullman chose her and he knows best and all but i don't think she's really my Lyra. I imagined her with dark lashes n all. Argh I'm sure i'll get used to it. yeah i guess its the acting that matters..
dark eyes, light hair. I love it! I can imagine how she looks in her [scruffy] Oxford costume, and I think she's an excellent choice.
All right… Really, yes, it is now a wait to a trailer or the film to see how Dakota acts, but she looks (her face) suprisingly like Pullman's drawing of Lyra in the last chapter of TGC/NL.
Yes, a picture from the front. However, I cannot really say she looks like a Lyra. Although,her picture has looked in the profile almost more Lyra.Nevertheless, the hair looks not so bad at all.The hairstyle fits to her.
However, in my opinion both should be right, the look and the theatrical ability.She is not ugly and I think they would not have selected her if she cannot act,(she would be a great Meggie in Inkheart)but Lyra has a combative, watchful and at the same time curious face, with fire in the eyes.However, the actress does not own this. I disagree that she hasnt got that fieryness in her eyes and a curiousness about her. I think thats EXACTLY what she has in her face and although its not how i imagined her to be(it would never be the same to everybody) i honestly say she looks like a Lyra. gah im all excited bout the film!
and yes i dont like Nicole Kidman. But i think she seems fantastic as Mrs Coulter. π

This is a teaser poster for the movie, according to IMdb breezy. She works at a movie theater and she said that New Line sent them promotional materials. If you look at the other photo I linked on the btts forums, you'd be more inclined to believe this is authentic. I'm now almost 90% sure its real.

Like hoobits said, it's remarkable just how much Dakota looks like Pullman's drawing in the last chapter of Northern Lights.
For what it's worth, I think both actresses look like utter perfection.
She looks a lot prettier in this picture which I think is important for the character of Lyra. She supposed to behave like a street child, not look like one. She looks clever which is also very important.
She's not half bad….picture her not all made up with straight hair, and it might just work. Nicole looks wicked all the time, so that goes. Only disappointed in her hair color, but, alas, you can't have it all.

I think she looks perfect as well. With the other still, I was a bit skeptical, but now I think she was cast perfectly. As far as Nicole Kidman goes, she was perfectly cast from the start, I think.
There is no drawing in the last chapter of The Golden Compass. Is it only in the British editions? Could someone be a doll and scan that picture so I can see how Dakota compares to PP's vision?
Alright, I really don't like Dakota in this pic., I cant put my finger on it, but she looks a bit like Michael Jackson and Mcully Culken morphed together. But, maybe thats just me.

The naysayers about Dakota crack me up, thanks for the irrational hilarity! Seriously, what's your problem? Dakota is how Pullman imagined Lyra — are you saying the man who wrote the books is wrong?
As for her age … er, she's on the cusp of turning 12 in the books, and has a deceptively young appearance and demeanour. Dakota is perfect. I sometimes wonder if those who are expecting a teenager to play Lyra actually read the books at all. Chill out like a penguin on Svalbard, and reserve your judgement until after you see the film.
Well, Dakota obviously can't be a perfect Lyra. Nobody can. Not even Lyra herself(hypothetically speaking in saying that she is real) could do this. Why? Because each and every one of us has some well thought up "picture", for lack of a better word, of how miss Silvertongue looks acts and behaves. True, many of our "Lyra's" are quite similar, but none are exactly alike. It would be quite impossible for Dakota, or anyone, to satisfy all of our perceptions of Lyra completely.
I said earlier that I didn't really care for this picture of Dakota, but truth be told I think she is pretty much true to many of the attributes that make up a good protion of our Lyra's. Of course, all of this aside Dakota acting ability will play the biggest role, not her looks.
P.S If anyone has a picture of the real Lyra, I strongly encourage you to please put on this website. π
wow i like it…this one's better than the last one cuz u can see lyra from the front and see the expression in her face. i think she does look like lyra and if that's pullman's vision its cool with me. i always imagined lyra with shorter lighter blonder hair, but thats just me and i think the look on lyra's face in this picture is fantastic anyway. π i'm so excited!!!!!! i cant wait for the movie!!!!!

From what I've seen, Dakota seems to be a very good actress. I'm sure she won't disappoint you. Well, some people seem to be disappointed by everything and anything, so that's probably not true. But she is great.
And for the people complaining about her hair being curly, you'd better get used to it. As is stated in Amber Spyglass, Lyra indeed has curly hair, and she does throughout this film as well.

umm, in the stage show in London, she was played by a 20 something actress… was she not? I can't understand what you people are looking for… the only 2 pics we've seen are from scenes at the cocktail party, where she's been dresses by Mrs Coulter like "a living doll".
