The landing of Lyra and the Gyptians at Trollesund is being filmed at Chatham Historic Dockyard in Kent this week. Film crews have been seen constructing a mock building front and “brownwashing” some of the existing buildings, with prop barrels and other dockside paraphenalia about. The dockyard, lieing on the banks of the River Medway, saw the foundation of the Royal Navy under Henry VIII.

yay!im the first to comment!anyway…cool!that looks quite like the river/canal ect.. i pictured!
i agree looks pretty sweet the port looks busy and it looks like a place that fits in with the story's theme
it's absolutely gorgeous
That's intensely perfect! I can't believe they're this far into filming and still haven't released a Lyra/Dakoto photo.
looks to warm, but they can fix that
refresh my memory… what happened in trollesund?
Oh, this is so exciting! I wish I could go on one of their ghost walks. (By the way, I think you meant 'lying', not 'lieing'.)
Mayur, you realise they don't shoot films in the order in which we see them right? They're filming the Trollesund scenes but that doesn't mean they're done with the England scenes yet. The compnay has to work around considerations like weather and availability of locations and actors. Also, often the most important scenes are shot first (dunno why),
I never would have believed that they wold be 1 month into filming and we STILL wouldn't have a picture of Dakota.
That's about 10 minutes drive away from where I live 🙂
Ah, yeah! That sounds very nice, I think! I don't think that anybody'll ever have anything bad to say about this place, because it looks just about right…
Oooh, Aylee, you should take some pictures, if that's possible! 🙂
heyyyy, aren't the Chathams in a book… somewhere? I read it somewhere really recently… Pride and Prejudice? *grr*…
You are thinking of Chatsworth, which is the English country manor where the most recent P&P movie was filmed.
Isn't Chatham in Sally Lockhart or something?
I think that Trollesund is where the gyptians met with Lyra and they had the roping. Correct me if im wrong but in a nice way.
Alewyn yes Chatham is in Sally Lockart. 🙂 I used to live there and currently live in Oxford! The production crew are following me!
Hook us up with some nice pictures of Dakota Blue Richards, then, dear "F", if you ever chance to see her!
In the nicest way possible then Azazel! Trollesund is at the end of the Gyptians boat journey. They had the roping in the Fens back in England, where they agreed to charter a boat to Scandinavia. Trollesund is where they then land (in Norway I think), in order to sledge over to Bolvangar.
Wow, the fact that I knew/understood that completely did NOT make me feel like a total nerd…
Belive me, I did try to find her in Oxford, but no such luck! I'm not sure if they'll still be about when I'm in Chatham next week – worth a try at least 🙂
Forgive me, but i am an American. Where exactly is this place?
touche will, touche
To Kate, totally aware of it! I've been in a couple before 🙂 But all the same, quite interesting that no image has been released. Glad it's a 'no-name' actress 🙂
Yay! Add a bit of fake snow here and there, wrap up the actors in big fur coats, give them rosy cheeks, and presto! Trollesund!
And Mayur: How did you get to be in a couple of films? 🙂
Galadriel – Kent is at the very SE of England; if you look at a map it's almost Britain's tiny tail.
Wow, I'm thrilled- looks perfect! I really wish I was in Oxford now to see how the filming is going. I used to live there and I miss it immensly.
Realli lookin forward 2 it, can't wait till it comes out… which will b like in nxt yr, but stil. i tink d castin 4 marisa coulter & serafina pekkala were good, don realli like daniel craig as asriel. n wen r d pictures of dakota blue richards gonna pop up?
