With the curly hair and the white clothes she looks a little bit like an angel. This is not Lyra, I think.

It looks to me like she's at Mrs. Coulter's place here, where she was all pampered and dressed up. So if she looks fancier or more angelic than Lyra should be, it's for good reason and she'll probably look different in other parts of the film.

Although the alethiometer is not quite how I imagined -- I didn't think it would have a lid that opened upward -- I like it fine and I think it's a good size.

Didn't imagine her nightgown so spotty, though. I think it looks a little funny. Still, I like it all right. And I know I'm overanalyzing everything...but I can't help myself. :-) The important thing to me is that I like how Lyra looks here.

Could've fooled me.... o_O Poor Dakota. New to it all, the movie isn't out, and already I'm scared for her.

I like the alethiometer design. The opening-upwards deal. Kind of pocket watchy and protected. I don't know; I just happen to like that fact. Her spotty nightgown is interesting, though from the other costume designs, it seems to fit in just fine. I can't wait to see it all come together.

Not quite how i pictured it but hopefully the movie will be good and it wont matter if she can act like Lyra.

you know IFAI and me hehe, if you read very carefully in TGC, it does mention Seafina as bkonde in the balloon scene. It was something like "Her fair hair... blah, blah, blah..."

She's perfect. No doubt about it. Obviously she's at Mrs. Coulters, so she of course looks "too angelic" but look at the concentration on her face. In this still, the alethiometer is the only thing in the world to her. She IS Lyra.

I think she is absolutely, superbly perfect in every way. She is exactly how I imagined her down to the last detail, So subtley beautiful and delicate looking but the look of fire, passion and concentration on her face. She is Lyra to the very heart and I read that she a huge fan of the books and even saw the stage production a few years ago, so she knows the character of Lyra inside out which shows the film makers didn't just pick a pretty face. She is a gem for the part and I am bursting with anticipation for the films release. HDM ROCKS!!

I have no idea why but I just realised I pictured the alethiometer to be bigger. Much bigger. Big enough to sit on your lap.

i agree with siiknezz... she looks too perfect. i think they should have made her hair straighter and messier and added some battle scars from the clay fights at Jordan. and made her look like shes 12 not 7.

I think she looks really good, just like in the book, and siikness, she probably looks that clean because she's at Mrs. Coulter's place, and Rebecca not seeing the movie just because everything doesn't look the way you thought it would is stupid.

At first, I found her too young. But a friend of mine reminded me of something: she is described as a girl who looks young to her age.
A fragile look could be useful in the battle, don't you think?

i think that the alethiometer looks fine. if it didnt have a cover, it would get damaged. and if it was bigger it wouldnt have fitted into her pocked at The Station.

She looks perfect for the Coulter scenes... the alethiometer is perfect though the cover flap lid was a little odd at first (though it makes sense that the crystal glass should be protected by something, a logical and sensible use of artistic license... wow). I can so picture Pan on her shoulder or lap or something like that.

Dakota might not be your lyra, but she's Pullmans, so accept it.

Looks like something my gran would wear! In truth none of us really know what she'll be like, maybe we should all reserve jugement on her acting skills. I am hopping she can pull it off.

Even if she can't pull it off - there's some other pretty good actors there - craig,kidman,etc..

Lyra wasn't an orphan. She thought that she was. Anyway, she became an orphan when Asriel and Coulter died in the fight with Metatron.
