I guess I do kind of agree with changing the culprit of the poison attempt on Asriel. It just seemed really strange for the Master. You start out thinking he's all evil but it turns out he isn't But does anyone remember Fra Pavel actually being there in the Retiring Room?

he wasn't in the retiring room...i guess they just added him. acutally, i dont think he was in the first novel at all.

Really, how come it is not the Master of Jordan to commit the act? Why change the storyline?

I favor the Master of Jordan more. He was the one who introduce the cryptic acts that Lyra would do.

I'm okay with this plot change. Don't be to nit pickey please. I really like his costume. It makes if look very important (which he is to the church.)

I think that it would be better if the master had been given the part though because it makes him seem bad and then there's this sort of tiny twist and he's actually good

there will be nothing left if they take out all the little twists, god its so annoying.bet they're doing it for the audience who haven't read the books, which is a bloody crime cause atleast those of us who have read them have a love for the story, they're ruining things for the people they should be appeasing!!!

You can't just film the whole book as it is, you have to make changes. Look at lord of the rings as an example of how to do it well. I thing they're making this change to have some obvious bad guys. I mean you never really know about Asriel and Coutler for a long while.

Im not tyring to just justify these specific changes but on the subject of book-film adaptions: you do have to change things to make a good book a good film. They're different mediums and require different emphasises.

I don't understand this changes... Why change the storyline? If the book says that the Master put poison is him who will must put it in the film...

I liked how the master did it. It made you start guessing right from the begining. Already you questioned those that Lyra trusts. Then you discover his motives and it makes sense that an old man wanting to protect a child he loves would do something so drastic.
