British comedian Charlie Brooker is poised to tackle videogames in a new TV series called Gameswipe.
Telly companies Endemol and Zeppotron confirmed as much to IncGamers, but said that production is closed and offered no dates nor details on the project.
Gameswipe will follow in the footsteps of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe and Newswipe. Each picks apart the relevant subject - television and news, obviously - to expose the obsessions and preposterous goings-on of the industries in a scabrous, comic way. They're quite funny.

Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe
According to Eurogamer, British journalist/comedian/satirist/broadcaster Charlie Brooker is to make a series called Gameswipe, apparently in the same mold as the successful and brilliant Screenwipe and Newswipe.

Heh, awesome. Although I don't know if games would offer the same sort of things to pick on that he usually does.

Heh, that I did not know. His interest in games was pretty damn obvious. It will be interesting to see how he tackles it in a comedic way. I'd guess gamers will be made fun of. Rightly so.

No word at all yet. Hopefully they will start planning when he finishes that t.v centric show on Channel 4.

Which is just about too depressing to watch. Say what you like about videogames, but there's none nearly as godawful as the Jeremy Kyle show. Not even RapeLay.
Good Brooker column in the Guardian today.

Re: Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe
Hehe, I watched that episode about Jeremy Kyle. Britain should be held accountable for that show.
I'm not too sure about Brooker's latest show in general. I can understand that he wants to earn some money but it just seems like a watered down version of Newswipe. The guests detract from the show and the live audience? No thanks. I'd watch it again but I don't think the format suits him.

Charlie Brooker sets his caustic sights set on video games. Expect acerbic comment as he looks at the various genres, how they have changed since their early conception and how the media represents games and gamers. Features interviews with Dara O'Briain, sitcom scribe Graham Linehan and Rab and Ryan from Consolevania.Stereo, Widescreen, Subtitles

Re: Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe
I liked it, but I didn't realise it was just a one off thing. Could have been funnier but I guess a lot of time was needed to explain things. The 50 cent game looks pretty hilarious, i didn't realise rappers had their own games as well as movies now.
Off topic but I kinda found the Electric Dreams programme that was on before it more interesting. Man the 1970s was ~*pineapples*~...game and watch next week! I used to think they were really cool...

It wasn't very funny but it was a good tv show about games. An even rarer thing!
