zaliff and mulefa are the same thing.

i drew this picture befare i finished the book, and they only say they look like olifants close to the end of the end.

Mulefa is the plural, Zaliff is the singular. :)

Tsippie, they say right from when Mary first meets the muelfa that they are 4-legged creatures with wheels. It's the most obvious thing in the world that Atal isn't a human.

well, first we had one hamster, and then i got a girl and a boy for my birthday, ans after five months i had 12. maybe they don't walk with two legs, but they can stand.

So what if hamsters have four legs but can stand on two? That does not detract from the fact that the picture you've drawn in a human, while mulefa are quite clearly described as having diamond shaped bodies, horns and wheels. Like Annabel says... it's blindingly obvious that they are nothing like humans.

yeah, i know, but the book is hard english, and i never learned to read or write in english, i teached my self since i was 6, and now i'm 13, so don't expect it to be the best.

if any one asks why it's a human, just read the comment that i wrote why. i'll say it again, the book is writen in hard english and i never had someone to teach me english, i come from the nederlands, i teached my self to speak read and write english, i never had a teacher, well, i have one but i read in english lesson.

It doesnt matter what form you drew her in, you did a good job. I am envious of your human drawing skills

and amber, i got better at writing since i started joining some websites where they do like my art, and the hamster was the first thing that came into my head, and i love animals more then some people, and i always compare them.

Dun matter about the Hamsters, fact is these people, the Mulefas, arent humanoid - or whatever... They're like elephants with wheels, cool eh?

even if atal isnt a human, it's still a great drawing. Better than I could do, anyday.

oh my god, you people need to give it a rest. i just graduated from my foundation year at an excellent art university with a distinction. not saying that just to boast, but just to say that i know how much guts you need to have to publicly display your work, i think tsippie is really brave for posting her artwork up here knowing all you no-talent-hacks out there will rip it to goddam shreds. especiallly when she (i'm assuming you're a girl for some reason) knows her interpretations may be way off because of her imperfect english. i've never had the guts to post anything on a fanart site. tsippie, you've really inspired me.


maybe you could all learn something from tsippie instead of sticking in the knife? or maybe make your self feel better about having no creativity by doing some of your own artwork instead of attacking other peoples. that really gets to me.

i am a girl, clanqueen, and i'm not brave, i am used to post my drawings in art webs, all of my drawings, even the old ones i have a fan art web, and there are also other people on this web that are also on the other web, like the one that drew the covers, i also drew one of those, the black and white one.

Well, I think it is wonderfull even of it isn't exactly how they described in the book. tsippie, you really should give Lyra a go. This picture reminded me of her. Love the wheels on the shoes!

this is not lyra.

mulefa don't look like humans, they're more of an elaphant-antelope type thing w/ a diamond shaped frame, one leg in front, one in back, and one on eigther side in the middle to propel them along the ground. nice concept, but not near what it's supposed to be. i would make a nice pic for Lyra, though ^___^

i'm glad you like it, but if you read all the other comments, youd see that i explained more then once, that english is not my first, and not my seconed languege, but my third. i don't live in a country where people speek english, and i never learned the languege, i teached my self. and the HDM books are very hard english, i mean, the guy is from oxford.

That's a nice drawing of a human version, and heck I understand your confusion English is my first language and when I read HDM for the first time a few years back I found the mulefa rather confusing. Anyway as far as the art, I like her hair and the light value but I would suggest you work on head proportion, unless you chose a slightly larger head for a stylistic choice. :)
