ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. yes. that's unique and interesting, but weird, how she's white-faced but has skin color eelsewere. He r expression, with the raised eeybrow and appraising lok, is very well done. like the monkey. bravo.

Those kind of pictures are the one I like very, very much! Mysterious, you can already tell that this young Coulter is going to be a very beautiful woman! Wonderful!

It also reminds me a bit of Lemony Snicket,I like it!

This Picture has a very unique style. I kind of like it. I think Lune is right, the large eyes and curvy face shape give it a Lemony Snicket kind of feel.

Simply: wow. Are you by any chance a professional artist? Done in oils? I love it: the soft texture of her skin, the intricate details on her dress and her prim and slightly teasing expression. And it does indeed look a bit like one of Brett Helquist's illustrations. Very striking in how the monkey's shrewd ugliness contrasts with her fresh faced beauty. The backdrop is lovely-reminds me of a Victorian portrait. Simply brilliant- the absolute details you painted in, the flow and old, vintage feel of the picture and the depth of character you manged to capture. I wish i could portray things in oils like that!

um, people. your forgetting something, she's rather ugly. looks like she has paste on her face and her eye is like a cyclops.

WOW. This is totally amazing- real art! Did you use oil pastels? The colors are so rich- it looks like something straight out of a classic Renaissance portrait painter's collection. Fabulous work.

Excellent Gerald. Although it is hard to imagine Marissa Coulter as a child, (I can only imagine her beating up classmates for their lunch money when she was Lyra's age,) but, hey, we were all young once. Again, excellent!

awesomely done. 'cept that her daemon shouldn't be the monkey, it's not fixed yet. by the way she looks in this picture, i would make it a bird, maybe a blue one.
