Work on The Book of Dust progressing
Posted on by Ian

Philip Pullman is making progress on The Book of Dust, he said in New York. The book is, however, far from completion. According to George Beahm: ‘He used his fingers as a visual cue and “showed” a thin stack of paper. Then he widened the span and “showed” a thicker stack of paper. And, right now, The Book Of Dust is more like the thin stack of paper.’ Pullman also stated that the novel will deal with an older Lyra, who is still interested in Dust, but after the events of The Amber Spyglass.

I would think he’s a busy man at the moment, things may not ease off for a while, and I imagine he wants to work on the occasional other book as well. I’m sure most fans are reasonably patient, but I hope he doesn’t let it drag on indefinitely; it seems like we’ll have to hunker down for a long, long wait.
