The Scarecrow and His Servant on stage

Philip Pullman’s book for children, The Scarecrow and His Servant, is to take to the stage later this year. The Southwark Playhouse in London will stage an adaptation of the book for a run of a month, between December 10th and January 10th. The play, which will be directed by Simon Reade, will include a post-performance discussion on December 11th. Tickets cost between £10 and £40 and can be booked online here. Jericho battle continues

Philip Pullman led 200 people in a protest outside Oxford’s town hall earlier this week at the continued proposals to destroy the area around the canal basin in Jericho, Oxford – the setting for parts of His Dark Materials. The plans are currently subject to inspection by a government planning inspector, and Pullman has been leading from the front, suggesting that Jericho is just as beautiful as Venice. Butterfly Tattoo Previews?

Apologies from the staff here at BTTS for the absence of news – August has been a sleepy month. The official facebook group for The Butterfly Tattoo movie has been updated and informs members that there will be an announcement soon regarding when previews of the movie are to take place. In addition, the official movie website has been overhauled (including a slightly altered trailer from original teaser we saw earlier this year) and is now a frontage for movie.
