Philip Pullman announces the upcoming release of The Book of Dust trilogy

The as-yet untitled first volume will be set in London and Oxford, and will run parallel to the His Dark Materials trilogy. Lyra Belacqua will return in the first two volumes, as a baby and then ten years after the ending of The Amber Spyglass.

Pullman has described the new trilogy as neither a prequel nor a sequel, but an ‘equel’.

“It doesn’t stand before or after His Dark Materials, but beside it. It’s a different story, but there are settings that readers of His Dark Materials will recognise and characters they’ve met before.”

The first volume will be released worldwide on 19th October 2017, Pullman’s own birthday. You can pre-order it here on Amazon UK and here on Amazon US.
