Welcome to Bridgetothestars.net!

I am thrilled to present (at last) a domain name to house the His Dark Materials fansite formerly known as Bridge Through The Aurora. Due to increasing problems with our hosts at angelfire, I decided it was time to move. You’ll find a few changes on the new site- for one, I’ve created a third column for the spotlight section, site poll, and button links to other HDM sites. I’ve also changed the format of the news section, from the old weekly updates format to the new format with the headline and date. This way you just have to skim headlines for the day to find new updates that you’re interested in. Other changes are still in development, such as the creation of the Timeline section, and the expansion of the Encyclopaedia. Check back often for more info and updates!

Site news for 15-22 October
Posted on by jessia

  • Celebrate! We’ve had over 7000 hits to Bridge Through The Aurora!
  • I have changed the link on the main page to the new message boards… creation of the separate forums has been delayed due to the fact that it’s not recognizing me as an admin. Regrettably, we’ve lost ALL 1000+ posts that had been on the old boards, as well as all of the member info. So you’ll all have to sign up again (moderators, please let me know what names you have so I can designate you as a moderator). Sorry for the inconvience- please bear with us.
  • More work completed on the new version of BTTA… view it here

“Oxford’s Rebel Angel”
Posted on by jessia

Be sure to check out the article in Vanity Fair this month about Philip Pullman (titled “Oxford’s Rebel Angel” by Christopher Hitchens)… An interesting read- some background about Pullman that I didn’t know… as well as some more confirmations about Tom Stoppard writing the screenplay, etc.

Overshadowed by the news of the movie, it seems that everyone has missed this line from the Variety article on Feb. 4th: “The Royal National Theater is in advanced negotiations for a stage version [of His Dark Materials], three plays over three nights, which Nicholas Hytner will direct in 2004.”
