Just one day before Anand Tucker was announced as director for the His Dark Materials films, Terry Gilliam was asked by Coming Soon about his desire to direct the adaptations. Gilliam answers a couple of questions on the topic, saying, “It's a big project and I'm not sure the studio really understands what it is, which may be why it seems to be languishing at the moment.” Read more.

Gyptian Boatyard Reprieve

The boatyard which inspired the Gyptians in His Dark Materials has won a temporary reprieve from a planning application to build luxury flats on the site. Philip Pullman had backed the campaigners fighting to save the boatyard, saying the plan “doesn't make any kind of sense” and describing the yard as “a good place”. Read more.
