Brendon from the Filmick blog has received an update on his source for the couple weeks of reshoots scheduled for the Golden Compass, “Turns out they’re taking place in Switzerland. Fans of the book will instantly be able to surmise that this indicates reshoots for the end of the movie, not the earlier scenes.” Read more. Thanks to green ink for the tip off.

YAY 1st comment!
cool about that but i thought they had definatly finished shooting.when i saw this i thought that they had began the second movie. although a little dissipointed,im glad they arent rushing it.
Reshoots are a standard part of any production. They occur to fill holes (or adjust scenes) during the editing process.
I’m glad to hear they are taking the time to get everything right.
holly i agree………
it’s like 6 mounths till it comes out………. or less or more…….
I’m thinking hopeful, but I hope they’re adding religion to it with these reshoots!
yea, they better b…… i was told tht they were going to do it wiv no religion but thn they had to as because they realised they could not make the third film with out religion……….
indeed, some of the bolvanger kids have been asked to return to the shepperton studios later this month for reshooting of some scenes.

coz hes a bolvanger kid =]
naah .. i dno
dood reshoots .. normal .. nuttin big
Yo, I just totally can’t wait until the beginning of November, when this movie finally comes out to all public theatres. I think that it’s going to be a genuinely good film, with a lot of great acting. How long will it be until November, though, now? What’s that…? Only six months? That’s only half a year, Sraffies!!!
Sorry to disapoint you, Lance and Drama Queen, but I seriously doubt that they will be “adding the religion in” any time soon. As much as I think that it needs to be in there to keep some of the integrity of the story, I’m not too upset about it. After all, it isn’t like they’re remaking the book or anything. I don’t know how they are going to pull off books 2 & 3 w/o religion, though: don’t tell me there will be no angels! I guess they’re too many people might get upset (personally, I love causing a little trouble in society), and movies, after all, are made (mostly, but not entirely) to make money- the sad truth. But I am also super psyched to see it! Can’t wait till december!
woah woah woah! their not putting in any religion related? i thought that they promised they would!? i couldnt be more disappointed
also..its nov that its coming out?!
If they are going all the way to Switzerland, then they must need the look of Switzerland.
Yes, it’s coming out at the beginning this November…I do believe! Does anybody know if I’m very right about that?
November? The poster says December 7th.
First comment here, but I just felt compelled to mention… There’s not some big concept of “adding in the religion” like it’s some kind of spice to add to the dough of the movie. Anything that is in the movie now will have been part of the movie since the script was written years ago. The only thing they’re doing with pickup photography is help better match the heavy CG work that they’re doing now in post-production. The script, visuals, and everything content-related to the movie is finalized far before any shooting even begins.
Also yes, Ashe’s right, the movie’s out in December 🙂
Mm, maybe you’re right, then. Maybe the movie was coming out in December, instead, and I don’t think that it’ll be all that hard having to wait just one more month for it! 😉
I’ll be disappointed if there is no hint towards the religious elements which are in the books, seems as the trilogy heavily features religion and the eventual creation of a Republic of Heaven. It’s such a strong feature of the later books, I think they’d find it hard not to have to include it in some way. I hope they keep some of the darkness of those books in the films; I’d hate to see the films turn out “petty”.
Kuraine- let me just say that when I said “adding in the religion†I didn’t say mean it like it was just something I think that they should sprinkle into the movie because I think it would be fun or cool. The reason I said it like that is because I was making refrence to something that Lance had mentioned.
Oh I know, I wasn’t referring to you 🙂
