Chris emails in to let us know of a Golden Compass booklet he snagged from eBay this week. A pictorial journal of the making of the film, it was given to crew members on completion of the project. We’ve added the eBay photos to our promotional material movie images album and will have some full scans soon. In the meantime, keep an eye on eBay for it others come up for auction!
A brief note also: Bob Shaye, the founder and co-chairman of New Line Cinema, was interviewed in the Times today. Asked about The Golden Compass, New Line’s biggest ever spend on a single film, he replied (apparently with a shudder): “It’s a big bloody investment.”
I also have one of these cast and crew books and can highly recommend them to fellow fans.
Oh woooow, I wish I had that book. D: How am I ever going to get my hands on it?
This movie is going to be beautiful. Looking forward to the scans.
Other than ebay, are there any other places you can get this book or something like it?
“It’s a big bloody investment”? just how much are they spending on this movie?
OH MY GOD i can’t friggin wait for this movie to come out!!! it’s going to be SO amazing!
$150 million. For reference, it was $300 million for all three Lord of the Rings films.
I really do hope that this movie is every bit as good as it looks, because I’m never for any waste of money of any kind.
Nearly nineteen years of living in the ghetto have turned me into a real pinchpenny, or so it seems. 😉
this “wasting of money” is nothing compared to the real world of living. it could be lost just like that and made just like that. the movie industry is crazy. all that matters is that they’re not restricting anything from being used in this film on the grounds of not enough money. just what we want and just what will help them make a hundred times more money than invested.
