Film release date brought forward?
Posted on by Kinders

Dark Horizons claims that the film adaptation of Northern Lights/The Golden Compass has been brought forward several weeks from its previously scheduled release date, to November 16th, 2007 – although their source is not named.

This is more than likely true as one of the easier things for spies to attain are release dates. Seeing as how it's a major multi-studio release update, I'm willing to believe it. But the real important thing is that Nov. 16th is a full month from the sceduled "Prince Caspian" release of Dec 14th. If HDM had opened on the 7th of December as planned, that could have spelled disaster with just a week to prove themselves until an established franchise takes the stage. This will give it plenty of time to attract the right audience and make a ton of mullah. With Potter in the summer, November is all HDM!

  2. Natalia says:

YAY! *cheers* Great! Can't wait to see the movie! 🙂

  3. Kayla says:

Moving it forward seems risky on their part… I mean seeing as they have not even casted yet it might be a little to constricting for them.

  4. Kinders says:

I guess three weeks isn't so significant out of a two-year production. If it's true, as hoobits says, it's probably so that they can "mark their territory" in next year's calendar.

  5. The Bard says:

Sweet, but I need more info…like are they filming all 3 at the same time or if theyre filming all 3 at all.

  6. Lucy K says:

They'll probably film them back to back straight away so that the actors and actresses don't age too much

  7. Kinders says:

*sigh* If the first one is deemed a success, they'll probably shoot the two sequels back to back.

  8. Cate says:

I very much doubt they would have moved the date forwards if they weren't on top of things…though they might be trading, as Hoobits said, on the fact that HDM will be the only major kids (and i say that in the broadest sense) movie out.

am i the only person not looking forward to seeing this film?
    i will definetely go
but im not sure i want to

i can never imagine the demons as animals, especially seperate animals from the human
so it may just ruin it for me

    and the whole church thing
    i mean
    wtf!?!

  10. StarLight says:

I think it is cool that they want to move the film to a earlier date because i want to see it so badly…but how can they do that when they haven't even picked the cats yet? They will have alot of work to do in a short amount of space. But i really want to see the film and i am sure it will be a success 🙂

  11. KittyKat says:

starlight do you mean cast?
    sorry. release date sooner? Yey!
    KKx 🙂

  12. KK =} says:

    they-haven't-picked-the-cats..heehee
    sorry, sorry!
they SHOULD pick a cat for Lyra (in the furry purry sense) shouldn't they?! it would be way funny and no humans would get jealous… and it could have a CGI mouth when she speaks…now to find a blond cat…
    JK!!!!
    KKx 🙂

  13. Luna says:
