The South Manchester Reporter features an article about The Butterfly Tattoo film director Phil Hawkins, who is himself a Mancunian. The article discusses much of his upbringing in South Manchester and his subsequent development as a film maker. It discloses, however, that Hawkins and production company Dynamic Entertainment are hoping to be invited to show the film at the Cannes film festival and are currently on the longlist for invitation. Around 15 to 20 such films are normally shortlisted by the Cannes jury and this should be complete by the end of April. Hawkins also states that he hopes the film will be shown at June’s Edinburgh Film Festival and in Las Vegas. Read the article in full here. We’ll keep you posted on when the film is to be released!

Is The Butterfly Tattoo a part His Dark Materials?
I don’t think so …
I thought this site only were for “His Dark Materials”?
Anyway, I hope it will go to Cannes!
We’re a website who as well as following His Dark Materials, follow Philip Pullman and his other works in general. Given that this Philip Pullman novel is being adapted for the big screen we’d be silly not to talk about it, especially as we’ve given our official support and endorsement to the project, and it’s being made by a member of our community.
That’s great!
I’m excited to hear any and all news on the project…
I wish them all the best.
CineVegas? Yes! I can go see it then.
