Claire submitted her work to our fanart section, but her work is so lovely (and numerous!) that a direct link here seems more appropriate, in order that everyone might see it. She says, “a while ago I decided to create an altered book from a copy of His Dark Materials – meaning, I rip out a load of pages and cover the rest with any kind of collage/writing/painting/photos that I think represent that part of the story.” The description probably doesn't do it justice, so follow the links to Claire's livejournal and check it out:

Astonishing. It is a measure of Pullman's achievement that his texts inspire such brilliance, and it is a measure of your own talent that your images are such a compelling invitation to look again at his words.
::feels ridiculously unaccomplished::
Absolutely stunning. You've managed to capture the spirit of the books so well, and the sheer effort put into this is astonishing. I would love to see more of your work.
I would probably like it more if if didn't remind me so much of this creepy Batman comic about Arkham Asylum I read a while ago… :wassat:
it's great work, i love it 🙂
Of all the fanart I have seen, this is my favorite, An amazing achievement. I want to put these on my wall or something…everything is authentic, I especially like the antique looking photos you have. The identity cards from Bolvangar remind me of a concentration camp or something equally as horrid. Keep up the fabulous work!
🙂 wow! Your artwork is truly beautiful. Love it- especially the way u put it all together.u gave a perfect feel to all the pages- i loved the ones of Oxford as every aspect seemed right 4 a kind of Edwardian/Victorian/other worldly feel. This must have taken u ages! The collegie/antique, impressionist even style you achieved is beautiful. They should make these into colour pages in a special edition of HDM or something, so original and outstanding is your work. 🙂 i luv how there's so much in a single page, so it takes u ages to notice and understand everything on the page.
This is absolutely incredible! I love it, just love it. You're really talented. Beautiful visual interpretation of the series, this NEEDS to be published somehow!
Simply beautiful
Stunning artwork, the best fan art I've ever seen for anything.
Amazing.
Where is it? After all you've written, I can't find it…argh! I need to see it!! 🙁
Thanks for the feedback everyone. After a long day at work this has really cheered me up.
I was very hesitant about posting my stuff on here as I tend to be very self critical and it really means a lot that you guys took the time and effort to give me feedback, let alone such kind comments.
There should be 3 more pages up by tomorrow night. If you want a sneak preview they are:
-The finished "Silver Guillotine"
-"The Daemon Cages"
and
-"Kaisa"
Thanks again!
absolutely stunning! great job…i loved looking at these!
These are beautiful! This is my favourite sort of art, i love your passion and dedication displayed in your work. You truly have a great understanding of the themes and characters. The art represents exactly how i imagine the story.
Keep up the great work!
wauw, they are very beautiful!
This is evocative work, sraffie-friend. Those last images of Coulter made me feel the actual twinges of panic, disgust and curiousity that I felt the first time I read the book and Coulter showed up on a page. Its the kind of feeling that I don't think Kidman could conjure in an audience, but you've found it. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
It was quite a shock to see your name in the BTTS updates. (I saw the maiafire and went, 'Wait a second…!')
We miss you, Claire! Drop us a line if you can.
And of course the art is fabulous, as always. ^_^
