The first of the open auditions for Lyra was held today, at Cambridge. Thousands of young hopefuls turned up and queuing started very early, with CBBC putting an estimate of some 1200 girls there. The auditions at Kendal have also taken place, this Thursday (the 6th).
From reports from those girls who contacted us, it seems as though the casting directors simply dismissed those girls that they felt did not look the part – which is disappointing as this rather ignores any acting talents they may have.
Those girls left were asked simple questions such as “what would your daemon look like?” Those further selected from the group were sent to have their photograph taken, to potentially be called back after all the auditions have taken place. Remember there are still two seperate days of auditions left: see here for all the details.

Hi Daemon and H, yea I auditioned at oxford and had my photo taken and did a screen test, and I definatly think no one has had call yet so I think we do not need to be depressed just yet. I think those going through will of heard by next saturday, they did say in a press report it would be 2 weeks before they invite anyone back and the last audition was only over a week ago on the 13th in exeter!!!! so i really think we are gettting stressed over nothing. It's hard waiting though isn't it :laughing:

Yeah, im just sad and annoyed that they took photos and photos and screen tests, because then the people with photos wouldn't be considered out of all those with screen tests if they were just doing 20 people for the next round, so they were just leading us on, believing we had hope, it's annoying. :crying:

Just thought I would let you know I have just phoned the casting information line and the message has been updated over the last two days thanking all those who attended the auditions and they say if they want to see anyone they will contact them(that would suggest to me NO ONE has been called yet. I listened to the message on sunday and it still had details of the auditions on there. So keep your chin up everyone, I think you all still have a chance. if you want to hear the message yourself the number is on the auditions details page

Sorry, I was a llittle dramatic…but it's the only part I've ever wanted, because that was the chance I'd been waiting for since I was six years old and started acting, so that's what made me get so…'eeh'! But, we all still have a chance, NO ONE'S BEEN CALLED! But, I have to try and not get my hopes so high this time, because I know how it feels to get well, kinda turned down, well I thought I had been. Yay, smiles again. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
