I have to admit, I was a bit iffy on Dakota's pictures so far as Lyra. None though has been a frontal clear picture of her. Now that I see this, I can see the rebellious and determined attitude just rolling off her. Dakota is definitely my Lyra now.

This is definitely Lyra. Even though she has not got blue eyes (and her hair looks on the slightest edge of ginger) you can see the sheer determination and fire in her face. Somehow I think that the first released pics looked more like my Lyra but she still looks awesome in this. I cant wait for the film!!!!!!!

i think she looks too young. i always pictured lyra looking older for her age... but i dont think i'll see this movie b/c my image in my head of my own lyra is so strong... and my image of her with will too. her face in my head is the one thats on the cover of the subtle knife (at least one of them)

I've always imagined her with brown eyes. And really tanned sking because she spent her days outside with Roger most times, even though England isn't exactly sunny, but that's what I imagined. I think she looks a bit young, hopefully they spread out the movies so that she can mature, but then again I want to see them all soon! So, a little contradictory there....But really good.

People, in the books says that lyra has a DARK BLONDE hair and that she looks too YOUNG for her age.

The first time I saw a shot of DBR I tried to remain optimistic, but I was like- oh no, damn. oooh, but this picture restores my faith in her. And it just about makes me want to be ten years older so I could at the very least be a lighting technician and see her. I am needless to say thrilled.

This film has taken over a year to make and right now Dakota is 12 so I read. In the first book lyra is still young and she looks young for age anyway and as the trilogy progressess she gets a little older and more mature ( But without loosing her fire and wildness) Which is exactly what Dakota will do! I think you are entitle to your own opinion Pan_Kirjava_Isabelle! And if you personally don't think that it will work with Dakota and whoever they pick for Will then that is up to you. However, it does take a LONG time to make these type of films (this one has taken over a year I think) so although she may look young in this film she will get older by the second and third films. Take for example the Harry Potter films, (although I hate to compare them to HDM) if you watch the first film now, you can see how much like babies they look, but by the third film they are on the brink of adolesence, so I am sure Dakota, and whoever they choose for Will, will mature in the same way. I am sure they will get him right seeing as the casting director has done such a great with the cast of this film, especially (in MY opinion!) Lyra and Mrs Coulter.

I'm from America, but my mother's side of the family is from England. We visit every year. Kirjava, It would be hard because lots of people think Lyra looks different. If I was really from England, I would have auditioned. I can say a few words in a believable English accent. Even if I was from England I probably wouldn't make it, but it would have been a great experience.

I went to the auditions and let me tell u it was not a fair thing, you said your name and where u came from and then a few people were chossen to say who there favorite character was and why, out of those few two were picked a picture taken and put on the audition info, it was in that part all up to chance, you then got a lolly and a paper book mark for waiting for hours in the rain! That was it brilliant and fair don't you think.
P.s this does not affect my veiws on dakatoa she definatley looks to young wrong hair and eyes but its all about the acting for me and from the clip in the trailer it seemed good with facial expressions combined.

lol. The lolly was a vinto one and it was a card nothen lights bookmark.
As you can guess the wait was boring and i swear at one point my toes froze.
when we got to the front we were in a group of about 60, while we waited for the others (group before) to finish they told us to do some jumps and so on, when the other group had finished they (lucy and fiona the casting directors) brought us into a big room they got us to stand in a circle and tell us our names after that they asked a few lucky people who their fav character was and why, unfortunatley i wasn't one of them and that was it i saw that they took a picture of the two girls they picked and that was all i saw, they gave us a lolly and a book mark and thanked us for coming then sent us back to our parents.
To say the least i was disapointed, still the big room was impresive.

Actually, Dakota has just turned 13, so by the end of filming the next 2 books, she will still be 13 or 14. The director and producers said they will be filming the next two films at the same time to avoid it messing up the important years of Dakota's school work and so she dosent look too old by the end.

This kind of thing always presents a problem. I /heard/ that they were trying to do the overlapping thing with the HP movies, but if anyone else noticed, Harry (and all the other young actors/actresses) matures significantly from film to film. I hope they do better with the HDM movies. But even if Dakota does turn 15 around the time of TAS, they always have ways of making actors/actresses look a bit younger. Anyway, I've heard people complain that she looks too young.

Anyway, the way she looks right now does seem a little too young-looking for the part when she matures so much in the last book. It's not so bad if she grows a bit until then.

Ya know what I heard on an interview Dakota gave? She wanted to carry on acting a bit more but she really wants to be a supply teacher!!! Think what it would be like having a major movie star coming in in the afternoon to teach you Maths. XD
