no, dakota just didnt do it, especially the bit where shes talking to "ragnar" it was all to . . . over the top, which might have been ok if the film wasnt so rushed- you didnt really know the point of it all which spoilt it the most for me . . . .

Hmmmm... I've been away for a bit and I saw the movie the day it came out in England. To be honest I was more dissapointed with it than pleased. I had high hopes they would do the best they could for it and it seems Chris Weitz has tried his best but New Line got their own way with this one and in doing so made it worse for themselves. I agree with Witch_Queen and Anna on the acting, in fact the acting in this film is what keeps it together and I believe that Dakota truly did deserve the partxx No one could have done better as Lyra than her. Although the only crtisism with the casting was the decision to to Iorek's voice with Ian Mckellen's at the last minute. He just doesn't bring Iorek's character to life the right way. Although I wasn't as irritated by Pan's voice, done by Highmore, as I thought I would be. ^_^
