Nicole Kidman is 5'10" 1/2, according to IMDB. Daniel Craig (Lord Asriel) is 5'11". She doesn't need heels for an air of heighth and importance.

I'm sure she's just wearing the nasty flat shoes before she has to wear the slinky high heels in the shot. It'd be damnably uncomfortable for her to have to poddle around all day filming in enormous heels. Besides, the production team probably don't want the good shoes getting damaged for take after take....trust me on this one guys, Marisa Coulter would NEVER be seen dead in shoes which look like they were picked out by a retarded nun. :)

Whats annoying about Nicole is the fact that she is tall but makes such a fuss about it that she can be really awkward. Just wear SIMPLE shoes for godsakes. I am a 16 year old girl and I am 5'11 yet I would never wear old grandmas shoes like that.

If you have issues with fur and animal rights, this movie might not be for you. Half the movie takes place in the freezing north and more poeple than Mrs. Coulter are bound to be wearing fur, and lots of it. And besides, it really fits in with her character. She is supposed to be glamorous, gorgeous and cruel. Of course they are going to put her in fur!

why did she have to wear the fur shes not even in costume.
