Stage Adaptation

The National Theatre's programme for the His Dark Materials play was a rather lavish affair. Alongside the usual profiles of the cast and crew, it also contained some specially commissioned art and literature works on the series. Regular HDM artist Ian Beck contributed several documents, maps and drawings.

The NT and the respective authors have kindly given us the permission to show these works here.

Arctic Map

This map charts John Parry's expedition from Britain across Europe and around the Arctic Circle - where he would eventually fall into Lyra's World and away from his home and son, Will. The map itself was produced by Together Design, whilst Parry's notes and sketches were drawn by Ian Beck.
