Interesting Combinations

Something I fully plan on doing once I get back to my college house, is buying some bacon, another jar of peanut butter, and making a nice toasted sandwich with the two. I know lots of people who'd shake their heads at me for even considering such a combination of foods, but it sounds delicious.

I vaguely remember making sandwiches as a kid with chocolate spread and sliced cheese (and recently had one with bacon and instant curry noodles) (I do eat more than just sandwiches).

Are there any peculiar seeming mixtures or dishes any of you know?

I used to enjoy dipping my crisps in yoghurt. Also, crisps and mint sauce are quite nice. Ready salted, of course.

I'm not sure I could handle any of these combinations! I am so picky about foods mixing and textures and things. I think the most extreme thing I do is french fries in milkshakes (but doesn't everyone do that?).

Oooh! Lemonade mixed with water. Peanut butter and celery. Bread with sugar on top. Others that I'll remember later. :p

Nikki, I LOVE celery with peanut butter. My primary school canteen used to sell it with sultanas on the peanut butter and call it 'ants on a log'.

I always mix tomato sauce (ketchup) with sweet chili sauce and dip chips in it.

I also love strawberries with basil and balsamic vinegar.

We used to have ants on a log too. With raisins. Are sultanas like raisins? (What are they?)

Also, the strawberries one sounds really... different. How did you come up with that?

Peanut butter goes with nearly anything, if you ask enough people. My mom enjoys both PB/mayonnaise and PB/onion sandwiches. I can't really stand the thought of either of those, but PB/banana is one of my favorite sandwiches. (Mom also does the strawberries and balsamic vinegar thing. Yet another reason for me to think she's crazy.)

I discovered during a party in 5th grade that nacho-cheese Doritos and whipped cream aren't bad together. The chocolate-dipped crisps mentioned above I've never tried, but chocolate-dipped pretzels are always delicious (and so is dipping pretzels in milk like they're cookies). And as for the celery, I enjoy it with peanut butter or cream cheese.

Can't recall of anything of my own invention that I'd actually seek out while weirding other people out, but now you've got me thinking...

Now that you mention onion, the best sandwich (no, second best) I've ever made had some.

I believe it had sliced mature cheddar cheese, leftover sausages, rashers, black and white pudding, sliced uncooked onion, cornflakes, all between two (four, really) slices of wholemeal sliced bread. Then toasted and butter spread on top. I'm now rather hungry.

This is only topped by my christmas sandwich.

Not really strange but I do like Milk+Ice and Orange Juice+Sparkling Water.

Foodwise I like, but have not had in a while, birdseye potatoe waffles + scrambled egg in a sandwich.
