Which shows how little you know about grammar! :D

To melancholia: I don't believe anyone's officially claimed that particular place yet. But somehow I think the person who tried to fill that spot won't be around for long...

Good grief eniamrach, you are tenacious about this spelling and grammar thing aren't you?

(I mean that as one of my most sincere compliments)

added later-- I will now attempt to improve my hyphin usage, and my verb tenses *sigh*

'hyphen'. Oh, and: 'eniamrahc'.

About the question: It's answered.

*watches Laura struggle to keep herself composed*

Or was that on purpose...?

Your Most Embarrassing Moment?

Postby Roll_with_it » Mon Apr 14, 2008 9:37 pm

We've all has them, don't lie.

One of mine happened just yesterday. I was tidying my room out in the morning and I found one of those flight bags they give you on long distance flights (i've just been on holiday). So, on finding a portable toothbrush in said bag, I decided to pocket it. Fast forward several hours and i'm in a DVD shop with some of my friends. Rummaging through my pocket, I discover the toothbrush, I take it out and show it to them in a sort of "Haha, look what i've got in my pocket" moment. Two minutes later, a security guard is asking me to empty my pockets and keep my hands where he can see them (they are going in my pockets, how's he going to see them?). Turns out he was watching on the security cameras and when I took it out, it looked like I had a switch knife. I was mortified.

My other, easily the most embarrassing, involves a girl. It's the part of that specific relationship I would most like to forget and believe me there are lots. So, just the typical schoolyard nervous chemistry developed into something more after she had told one of her friends she liked me. Note: This friend is possibly the gossipiest (?) person ever and also a stone cold b***h. So, my friends started circling her and eventually got something along the lines of "I need to tell him something" out of her. At this point, I am doing my utmost to avoid her, as you do. So when a crowd of people came up to me shouting "She wants to talk to you", you can guess how I felt. This is where the story lets you down a bit. This is a rough transcript of the following exchange.

"Do you need to tell me something?"
"No."

That was it. I got out of there. In all honesty, it's a rubbish story, but I honestly shiver anytime I think about it. It was just that bad. And it's part of a much more interesting story, which I may tell you all sometime....

So, any others?

When I was in the last year of school, I won a medal for winning a badminton tournament. Called up in front of the whole school at morning assembly, I dutifully trotted up to the stage (trying to keep a low profile as I was incredibly shy at the time), skipped up the first step (the speed was to get it over and done with as fast as possible), hit the second one, and then had one of those moments where everything goes slo-mo as the step moved from under my foot, resulting in not so much a flailing crash of body, but more a drunk's on an ice rink attempt to stand up routine, much to the amusement of 500 kids. The step wasn't fixed properly. These days you could fall over it and sue somebody, but back then it didn't help my state of mind to do an impromptu Riverdance 6 feet off the ground..

And as for the girl thing... in brief, picked up then girlfriend for the evening, as we lived a long way apart. Left pub, got halfway to where I lived at the time, and car decided to pack up. She said "no probs, we'll walk", and we did, but the following day I did a Basil Fawlty on that car. Doesn't sound embarrassing? Was when I'd spent all afternoon bigging that car up to all who'd listen.  .. back in the days when I was into cars, and how I made the link between wheels and women! [which explains why I now drive enormous tractors every day, and the only thing they pick up is mud!]

Re: the sraffies' "most embarrassing moment" thread

I may have told this story before but here it is anyways...

Earlier this year I had a few episodes where I'd just spend the day vomiting over and over and over again for no apparent reason. Later I figured it out (bad reaction to cold medicine) but at the time it was quite scary. Anyways, I was sitting in my zoology lab and I could tell I was about to throw up so I ran to the bathroom and barely made it. I got back to the lab and told my TA and managed to make it back to my dorm without vomiting again.

Over the next six hours I vomited about every 15 minutes or so (lovely, I know) and eventually I had to call the hospital. The nurse told me I needed to come to the ER so I asked my house fellow to drive me but apparently there's a policy against that. Our only option was to call the non emergency police and ask to ask for a lift. We waited outside my dorm for the cop car and after about ten minutes I heard a fire truck which did not bode well. Over the next few minutes a fire truck, two police cars, an ambulance, and a cop on a bike showed up in front of my dorm with all their sirens blaring.

I told them it really wasn't an emergency and that all this was completely unnecessary, but I guess it was an excuse for all of them to chat for a while. After all this, I got escorted into the back of a cop car (he didn't want me puking on him). Meanwhile, everyone in my dorm had heard the commotion and all they saw was me being put in the back of a cop car. Naturally, everyone assumed I murdered someone or something. It was pretty embarrassing...
