My boyfriend cheats on me with World of Warcraft!

Postby hollytamale » Fri Dec 02, 2005 2:30 am

Has anyone heard of World of Warcraft and the life sucking powers it has...
it's an RPG and there's a million levels and quests and worlds and my boyfriend has been playing it forever and he forgets about life....

How do video games have this much power over boys?
Or girls, I guess too.

*confesses to having his life sucked*

Level 59 Gnome Mage, level 20 Undead Priest. Um, sorry?

Well, look at Darragh. He started when my main was level 30-ish, and now he has a 60 and a 43 (or was it 47?). So, less life-sucked than some. :P
It just is.

50 now. I consider myself to have a functioning life though. It doesn't "Hold power" over people, that's just silly. Videogames, books, films, going out socialising etc it's all the same. Just a distraction. I consider videogames to be a very interesting entertainment medium and it's still young.

Oh and the reason I level quicker than you Huginn is because I have teh ubber skillz.

And some people just get more distracted than others. It's a good solid game, though; lots of different ways to play, always something to keep you interested (which can be a problem, too).

And I just make sure to keep some healthy rest bonus on hand, partly as a gauge to make sure I don't waste too much of my life on this game. :?

Russell (bf) is a 56 Troll Mage...and he's getting the expansion when he's done.

A guy friend of mine (who I hope will be more very soon  ) ditched me to go sleep camp outside of circuit city last week so that he could be one of the first to buy a new x-box. Then he made me watch him play it on his huge projection screen. :?

He was in an incredibly good mood yesterday because he discovered that he was going to become the most powerful being in the universe somehow.

And also because some level 60's allowed him to "run a dungeon" with them. running a dungeon means he won't call me back for an hour. :?

If it's a 60 dungeon make that at least two hours.

I spend more time on the computer than my boyfriend does :shifty:
and we're about even on the "oh this game is so cool you have to try it" front. Though only one of us has succeeded in actually getting the other to try a new game, and it's not him :P

My sophomore friend is getting WoW for Christmas though, and I'm rather scared that he'll never speak to his friends again except to brag about whatever he's just achieved. (if it makes him neglect robotics I'll bribe one of his brothers to sabotage his game)

60 troll mage here. I haven't been playing _that_ much since I dinged 60 in June, but before that my life was definitely getting sucked.

Mages rock until everyone else gets better weapons and you realize that there are no new spells after 60.

Was I being lied to by a chap who told me that you can get higher ranked spells if you get exhalted in Silithus?

Pretty much, yeah, Darragh. However, there will be new ranks of Frostbolt, Fireball, and Arcane Missiles as book drops from Ahn'Qiraj bosses in 1.9. So, close. :P

I've thought perhaps of new mechanics to increase spell damage or negate resists (like, maybe, giving spirit a +dmg effect like strength does for melee classes), but it's just a pipe dream.

Yes, Russell is a 60 now. There was much rejoicing from him once it was achieved. Now, he's working on "getting" on the "things" he needs. Whatever that means...apparently there are items to make "drop" and people to kill. Have any WOWers heard of Leroy Jenkins or whatever his name is?? It's some video they made of some people in the game and I heard the story and it's pretty funny....

Basically, he's trying to find the best gear out there, and you do that by killing bosses known to drop that gear when they die.

A friend of mine is obsessed with Leroy, even though he doesn't have WoW yet...
