Watership Down
Why is there no thread devoted to the genius that is Watership Down? Well, I thought I'd start one for all those rabbit lovers out there. This is one of my favourite books. It's a classic. You really feel for the cute little bunny rabbits and Woundwort is a great villain. My favourite part is definitely the Efrafra section... Bigwig's finest moment!

i thought this was revived from a while ago and didn't understand why it said jez had started it because, well, frankly you're just too damn new to have started something that had several pages before you even got here... (i mean to say, a couple pages in i think there actually is a thread. nothing against you for being slightly new-ish.)
however, as familiar as this story seems, i don't think i've read the book, so i'll go look for it and leave the looking for the old version of this thread to someone else... if there is one and i'm not imagining things, which may well be the case.

I didn't really like it. I started it earlier this year and got about half way through and found that I was extremely bored.

what part did you stop at? I agree that the begging is pretty boring, but once you get past it it's great.

What begging? Anyway, the only parts I found a bit dull were the stories of El-ahrairah. I nearly always skip the one about Rosby Woof because I didn't find it that engaging and I wanted to get to the good stuff with General Woundwort invading the warren.what part did you stop at? I agree that the begging is pretty boring, but once you get past it it's great.

I can't really remember the exact part but i didn't get very far. Maybe it had to do with the fact that a book I was waiting for came in while I was reading it so I stopped.what part did you stop at? I agree that the begging is pretty boring, but once you get past it it's great.

Oh goodness, the wonderful books that get turned into movies. Luckily I have never seen or heard of it. Was it as good as the book?

Yeah, I really like it. It's an animated version, and good enough that I own it on video. A children's TV series was also made of it a while back, which was cute but sadly I was a little too old for it... I remember that I used to love watching The Animals of Farthing Wood cartoon series - if only Watership Down had been on telly then!Oh goodness, the wonderful books that get turned into movies.
