Since I finally read Lyra's Oxford, I guess I may as well revive this thread.

I liked it. It seemed to me that Lyra is moving on with her life, which is good. She's not lying around being all angsty about Will. And when he is mentioned, he's a source of strength and inspiration rather than sadness, which is great.

The short story was nice and the extras are okay, though I confess to not reading all of them thoroughly (such a big block of tiny text!). It didn't quite leave me satisfied. I was still wondering why the birds looked out for Lyra and what the alchemist was really doing. The 'meaning in everything' theme was rather unsubtle but it did fit in with the tone of HDM, and it was a nice touch.

I think more than anything it was great to read about Lyra again and see that her experience has left her with an even greater appreciation of life. It was very brief (and probably not worth the £10 price tag) but it does make me look forward to TBOD more.

Finally got around to buying it at a bookshop! Read it in a day... wasn't that nice, for a change! A short book. I thought it was a wonderful, light story. I like how it was a simple tale, not an elaborate one. It gave my mind a break. I loved the map and all the other tid bits!
