TBOD: What will follow The Book Of Dust?

Postby Ian » Mon Mar 28, 2005 8:34 pm

What will follow The Book Of Dust?

If and when The Book Of Dust is released, will it truely be the end, or will we see more His Dark Materials? (eg his research notes for the books?)

following The Book Of Dust

Postby daemons-master » Fri Apr 08, 2005 7:56 pm

philip pullman was originally only going to write The Book Of Dust and leave it there. But his publisher had the idea that since Lyra's Oxford was a little, red book, why not do a little, green book? :?: So it will be The Book Of Dust then a little, green book :D and that's it.

P.S-This is from the interview BTTS done with philip pullman

Unless Will moves in with Mary. It wouldn't be the same, though. Lyra really does seem to own Oxford.
When in doubt, castle.

There appears to have something of an admin/mod convention here.

Yeah, I had kinda noticed that. What I meant was, atfer ages of no one and then another n00b replying, you all descended on the thread and said stuff.

daemon has made the same number of posts that I made in my first six months, so he's hardly a n00b! And most of those 300+ posts have been pretty content-free after all.

It was a pretty stupid remark, wasn't it, about the mods/admins convention.

Well I have probably made about 50 or 60 posts in the game room. but otherwise I have generally posted in actually relelvant threads.

*Reads post from Enitharmon...considers it to be...NO!....surely not?...Content Free!*

(I know it is hypocritical of me to say that in a new post)

You were discussing the relevance of previous posts: off-topic, but with content/relevance. Pointing out that there was an admin/mod convention was pretty pointless and inaccurate since Enitharmon was the only Mod/Admin involved (if you discount abc's comment which initialised the discussion).

Fanfics play an important role in this community and discussing them is pretty pertinent (I learnt that word from The Matrix: Reloaded) when discussing possible new His Dark Materials stories. I am not surprised that Rosie would be irritated by dismissing the mention of one of her fanfics (relating to a story in Will's world) as ‘an admin/mod convention’.

I don't like seeing potentially interesting topics turn into flame wars. But then I don't enjoy flame wars of any kind.

I really should shed this absurd monicker one of these days.

I always see myself as standing on the edge, shouting "Fight! Fight! Fight!" but then trying to break it up because I feel guilty.

daemon, its not a matter of posting in relevant threads, its posting relevant content. Things like;

Ok, sorry for the lecture, but you probably aren't going to get a warm reception from many of the regulars unless you cut out the spamming.

Flame war?

Anyway; does anyone think that there is a likelihood that after all the actual HDM books written by Pullman have been written/released, that any publisher would be prepared to release decent fanfics in a book similar, say to TBOD?
