LO: Not as Enthralling

Postby ljpdonnelly » Sat Aug 06, 2005 10:56 am

To be honest I didn't find Lyra's Oxford as enthralling as the other 3 books. to be honest i couldn't be arsed.Wheras with the others i couldn't put them down.

Did anyone else feel this way?

it was terribly small, i think that might have been part of it. i really enjoy the book for the extras rather than the story.

I just finished reading it and I must say that although it got better and more enthralling, i still don't think it was as good as the trilogy

Its really sort of a teaser, at least that's the way I see it, especially with all the mysterious extras.

I rather think PP wrote it in order to dig up some spare cash.

I liked it but I also thought it was way too short. As long as TBoD is bigger I will be satisfied.

I haven't actually read Lyra's Oxford yet, and judging by this thread I'm not sure if it's worth it. Would you recommend it? Or is it more of a pointless money-spinning extra to tempt HDM fans?

I think you should read it because it's a bridge to TBOD. And also because it's quite interesting to read, the extra thingy majigies. But I wouldn't necessarily buy it. Mind you, if you're a true HDM fan you probably should.

Hmm, well maybe I should go and get it from the library... That's if they actually have it, the local library is ~*pineapples*~.

I reckon it's worth it. It's a quirky little short story, which gives us a taste of what's to come in TBoD (I'd like to hear this story continued persoanlly). But as Laura said, it's the extras you should read it for. They're really interesting, and if you see some of the threads round here, make us think even more.
