The Republic of Heaven Book Club is a book club for sraffies that selects a new book to read and discuss on a bi-monthly basis.
If you would like to become a member of the Book Club please do not hesitate to post here or submit yourself to the book club usergroup (open to all). For those who aren’t members, you may post in the discussion threads if you've read the relevant book, but you will not be allowed to nominate, vote, or start new topics in the Book Club sub-forum.
How the Book Club works
Nominations:
> Each member may nominate one book in each month's nominations thread.
> If you nominate a book, you are expected to participate in the book club for that month by reading the winning book. We appreciate you may be disappointed if your chosen book doesn't win, but one of the goals of the book club is to encourage you to read and discuss books that you might not otherwise have read.
> You do not have to vote for the book you nominated. This allows you to suggest a potentially popular alternative if there aren't many nominations.
> The nominations period will last 7 days from the creation of the thread, after which we move on to the voting period.
Voting:
> After the nominations period is complete, a poll will be added to the current nominations thread to allow the books to be voted on.
> The voting period will last 7 days, after which the winning book will be announced and participants will begin to read it.
>In the event of a tie for first place, a tie-break poll of the top 3 books (or more if more are equal 3rd or higher) will be created with participants having 1 vote each. The tie-break poll will last 4 days.
Discussion:
> After a month has passed, the nominations/voting thread will be changed into a discussion thread for the winning book. This will contain spoilers, so if you haven't finished it yet, stay away! Nominations for the next book will begin shortly before the end of the current book's reading period.

Re: The Republic of Heaven Book Club
Hello folks! I'm taking over the book club and looking to get it running again with some regularity.
If you are already a part of the book club, please let me know (preferably via PM) if you would like to continue with that (and feel you would be able to participate).
If you are not already in the book club, but would be interested in joining (and participating!) please PM me as well.
I would like to get a feel for the people interested. Thanks!
