that's rather scary and very disturbing...which attests to your skill. He really looks like a zombie...*shivers*

fishboy! just noticed the title! (so that's why he's blue)
Jess: on 09/12/2006
O thats so upsetting! Love his oversized eyes and his dark hair contrasted with the rest of the drawing. A very different style to most others...very very good!

Thank you :-) Wanted to make him look lobotomized & Cold (hence the blue) cheers for your comments.

Oo, very nice picture, I like it. It reminds me of Victor from Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. :D

oh yes this is really good. I like how he's just sort of in a trance, clutching the fish for life. Very nice indeed

Very natural.
Very scary.
Very good...

so sad! this is one of the parts i remember more vividly in the book, and you portrayed it very well.
Lizzietiffon01: on 12/22/2006
love it ! yeah, moonflash is right- looks like a Tim Burton macabre cartoon. Portrayed very professionally with a dramatic gothic backdrop- really suits the character. The eyes r so scared and empty and hold such sadness that its depressing- very effective use of colour to create a truly memorable pic.

you know, "fish boy" has a name, it's Tony.
Ccs: on 01/03/2007
A name is rather secondary and mundane next to the function of what and what Lyra sees is a boy with a fish. Taking away his identity and reducing him to a entity of visual description is powerful stuff ;-)
To further justify my choice title (apart from my ability for abstract thought, freewill and the fact I just wanted to :-) I'll ask the problematic question; Is a soulless child a child or the personification of living memory to a lost life? Simply put, even if it hadn't died would it have lived? More simply put, is Tony, as you kindly remarked, still Tony without a soul?
I could divulge in the philosophical debate that has kept mankind guessing since the dawn of time, that of a soul everlasting and it's effect on the human condition but fair to say I expressed what I read into it. Don't get me wrong I'm glad it provoked a response like any form of expression should, even better your response is that of Lyra's as she still saw Tony too....either that or you're just being pedantic hopefully it's the former ;-) Thank you everyone for your kind comments :-)

p@trik byrnison: on 08/17/2007
i luv how he's just clinging to that fish as if he'll die *well wats left of him* its moving and sad... im finding it hard to giv sum constructive critisism but if anything he looks slighty to old hes only wat was it 8, 9 or sumin but it doesnt matter its a great picture
Carebear: on 08/28/2007
WOOOOOOOW! It's awesome! I love the skins blue tinge and the way he clings to the fish. Exactly like I pictured him in the book.
asrielfan: on 09/29/2007
