Fantastic! Someone else who agrees with me that it's not flat. I'm just not too sure about the 'cage' thing on the top, though.

it's always described as a compass though... i always picture it being like the width of those mini-records my parents listened to singles though. i like the idea, but i think it's kinda hard to read this way.

i dont think thats what it actually looks like......

Art doesn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t have to be accurate. What you have drawn is your interpretation. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a nice job. I like the way you express yourself.

its a good drawing but NO!! the alethiometre looks like a compass not a gyroscope thing!!!!
glittercloud: on 07/16/2006
the front of Nothern Lights has PP's one on it. I like it anyway. It's really good!
Lady A: on 07/18/2006
This shape of giroscope is original although I did not see the alethiometer thus. But cheer nevertheless, the draughtsman remains exceptionel.

A good representation of the alethiometere...but i imagined it flatter more like a compass...awesome sketch though!!*~

*phones Lyra*hey gal! I got a question. what does the alethiometer look like?
Lyra:-----
stop right there! see, no one really knows what the alethiometer looks like! If you beleive lyra and her world actually exist, then how could PP get it right without going there? To quote Pumpkin:"It's FANART!." Bill's view! I love this picture-it's great to see something so beautifully done. So what if it's NOT flat?

Wouldn't it be a really boring world if everyone had the same imagination??
randomperson: on 08/21/2006
sure would be charlotte.
MY personal interpretation would be just like that exept the cagey thing is glass, and flatter.
LyraPanfan: on 09/21/2006
I have a question: How would it fit in the bag if it was like that????
Phipette: on 10/01/2006
Maybe it was a big bag, haha.
Very original interpretation, btw. I wouldn't have the imagination to think of something like that :)

That is genius!
Dustofthestar: on 12/31/2006
I imagined it flat, but I love your take on it! I almost like it better, except it would be hard to carry along.
Fadwen: on 06/11/2007
I love your imagination. I'm not going to tell you that it's what I have in my mind's eye, but hey it's all up to your own brain to figure out. You're an awesome artist. Thank you for sharing your view with the rest of us.

Maybe the cage pieces are on hinges, so it can fold into more of a compass shape. This might just be when it's all extended.
