the cost of the war in iraq

Postby jopari » Thu May 13, 2004 6:33 pm

i know it's been a while since i've posted here, so i'm coming with a real doozy: a counter of what the war on iraq has cost the US.

you can see it at http://costofwar.com/index.html.

and while i'm talking about war, do you think the US should stay out of foreign affairs? why or why not?

'stay out'

What, totally out of foreign policy? Of course not.

Wow. wow.

I don't think it would be possible for the most powerful nation in the world to stay out of foreign affairs...we obviously need to work on (understatement) foreign policy, but...

I consider the Marshall Plan, and agree. Then I consider the fact the UK is still paying back debts because we dared to elect a left-wing government after WWII.

Can we demand our money from the Germans? They still owe us.

I brought up the question Versaille in a German pub once, in an effort to get shouted a drink. The barman didn't look best pleased.

I don't like the war, but we have no choice but to try and fix things. We can't just leave it like it is. I think the UN is corrupt, too.

Hey, did anyone hear about the US saying they'll leave Iraq if they're asked? They said that they didn't want to be in a country that didn't want them there. So, they say if the Iraqi puppet government, which the US installed themselves, asks them leave then they will.

You'd think everyone shooting at them would translate as 'Please leave, we don't like you."
