They open with a message from the film&#8217;s writer and director, Chris Weitz, who says that he was &#8220;absolutely stunned by the imagination, daring and intelligence of the books.&#8221; The notes go on to detail the movie&#8217;s design philosophy, inspirations and colour palate (among other things). <\/p>\n<p>Whilst it&#8217;s written for an audience coming to His Dark Materials for the first time, there&#8217;s much interesting information to be had in the text. There&#8217;s some words too from Philip Pullman, who says, &#8220;I&#8217;ve done my part. I handed it over to Chris and his team to make the film.
