James on her 93rd birthday.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 203px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.societyofauthors.org\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/pd%20james.png\" width=\"193\" height=\"261\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">P.D. James \u00c2\u00a9 The Society of Authors<\/p><\/div>\n<p>James said &#8216;[N]o one could be better qualified for the task [&#8230;] the Society of Authors could not be in better hands.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Pullman said &#8216;P. D. James has been a magnificent President, whose knowledge and wit and wisdom will be very hard to follow. The Society of Authors has been representing and supporting the work of<\/p>\n<p>writers for a hundred and thirty years, and now that we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re in the middle of one of the greatest<\/p>\n<p>revolutions in printing and publishing and reading there has ever been, the Society\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s experience will be needed more than ever.
