A Halo game announced at TGS, wtf??
Damn, I hadn't realised White Knight was a Sony game.
Apparently it will "require players to employ more elements of stealth and cunning than ever before" - makes sense. Not sure how the game will work without a shield system if they go that route.

It's the game Microsoft pulled from E3 because they wanted to focus on their casual games. Fools. I don't like stealth games. I played mgs4 on easy so I didn't have to stealth. Hopefully this will offer an action style approach too.
Capgod have two impressive trailers. Both Resi 5 and Street Fighter 4 look really nice.

It won't be a stealth game with action elements, it'll be an action game with stealth elements. Or perhaps it just means it'll have a 'cover system'...I don't like stealth games. I played mgs4 on easy so I didn't have to stealth. Hopefully this will offer an action style approach too.
I'd love to know why I get excited by a two minute CGI trailer for this when I was so bored by Halo 3 I stopped playing a couple of levels in. That's just the way of the game boner I suppose.
That said, the Last Remnant trailer just made me queasy, although I dug the brilliantly unsubtle FFVIII reference.

Re: Tokyo Game Show 2008
my concern for SF4 is how will it be playable on a controller? VF5 or whatever the crap i have works just and just because a lot of the moves are crap like back forward or forward forward punch, but SF always had fluid movements (tatsu maki senpu kyaku for example) (no i didn't have to look that up! ) which don't lend themselves very well to the ps3 controller as there's only 4 directional buttons. or using the tiny joystick also seems rather tough. i can't imagine ever getting a shoryuken down right with it, much less zangief's spinning piledriver ... not that i ever got that to work more than once or twice...
There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all

If you can quote nona-syllabic Japanese move names, you may well like Street Fighter enough to invest in one of these.my concern for SF4 is how will it be playable on a controller? ...or one of these (My brother has this model, it's very good).
Both the PS3 controller and 360 controller are awful for fighters. In fact there hasn't been a good d-pad for fighters since the sega saturn controller.
The trailer was really epic and nice.
Off Cam Dragon Quest IX trailer. Looks really nice for a DS game. I've almost cleared Dragon Quest 4 which I really like. Doing a bit of grinding going to and from work really helps the time pass.

Re: Tokyo Game Show 2008
I continue to double post but this section is so misused...
I would like to draw your attention to a new Level 5 RPG (Makers of Dragon Quest VIII and IX, White Knight Chronicles and even the Professor Layton series). They announced a game for the 10th anniversary and it looks like they've made quite a special game.
Animation: Hmmm, should we let our internal team animate our cutscenes? Nope, I don't think we will. Lets get Studio Ghilbi to do it instead. They seem to be pretty competent.
Music: Now seen as we've gone all out on the animation it would be a shame to tone the score down. Let's get that guy Jo Hisaishi. Who? You know, the guy who composed the music for Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Oh THAT Jo Hisaishi, ok.
I guess that's enough then. Ye know I was thinking maybe we could have the game in a special box and we should package in a hardback spell book to explain things about enemies and spell casting. You mad?! It's on DS. Oh, I see you are sane.

http://i35.tinypic.com/juv2is.jpg
Now we pray for it to at least makes the states so I can import AND understand it.

The Another World? If they do localise it for the West, I'd suggest choosing a less grammatically redundant name. Not that it's a scratch on Infinite Undiscovery. Actually, I suppose nonsensical names are part of the charm of JRPGs.I would like to draw your attention to a new Level 5 RPG (Makers of Dragon Quest VIII and IX, White Knight Chronicles and even the Professor Layton series). Totally off topic, but you seem to have played pretty much all the DS games I've lusted after but been unable quite to bring myself to buy. Assuming you haven't traded them in or something, would you be interested in selling any to me for a little less than gamestore pre-owned prices? They'd be easy to post, and if you want I could send them back when I was done with them. (I'm gonna get a blockbuster-style game rental thing, but I'll be using the two game allowance for 360 games for the foreseeable future (here's looking at you, Fallout 3 and Fable 2).).I've almost cleared Dragon Quest 4 which I really like. Doing a bit of grinding going to and from work really helps the time pass.

Poor Max. I do actually trade in my DS games because of all games I buy they seem the biggest rip off.
However, I have no problem sending you Dragon Quest 4 as long as you send it back whenever you are done with it (1 month, 3 months, whatever, I don't mind) because it's a game I'd like to keep in my collection. Just send give me the address to send to in a private message. No charge.

In future, let me know when you're going to trade in anything I might like, and I'll give you more than whatever the shops do - given the size of the mark-up they put on them, there's plenty of room for us both to save something (unless the strength of the Euro overwhelms the difference...).Poor Max. I do actually trade in my DS games because of all games I buy they seem the biggest rip off.
Awesome! DQIV would really hit the spot right now. I'm sure one of these days I'll be able to do something in return. I have Tomb Raider: Anniversary for PC at home, but no longer a computer capable of running it, if you're interested/haven't played it already? However, I have no problem sending you Dragon Quest 4 as long as you send it back whenever you are done with it (1 month, 3 months, whatever, I don't mind) because it's a game I'd like to keep in my collection. The address is just Churchill College, Cambridge, CB3 0DS.

Re: Tokyo Game Show 2008
Yep, I'll let you know about other games. I'll be going for Sonic RPG next (eep!). Don't worry about returning the favour, I'm glad to loan games to someone who appreciates them and I really am spoiled when it comes to gaming with the slight drawback of never having enough money to move out.(If you ever come across a gameboy colour and a copy of Link's Awakening DX I'll gladly take it!) DQ4 is really good, it's battle system is very simple but it oozes charm and is genuinely original to me in some ways.
I shall send it to Mr. Max, Churchill College, Cambridge, CB3 0DS?
Edit: Do you still have a Gamecube?

I think that may be one for the emulator...(If you ever come across a gameboy colour and a copy of Link's Awakening DX I'll gladly take it!)
I've heard it has some brilliant characters - something about a shopkeeper?DQ4 is really good, it's battle system is very simple but it oozes charm and is genuinely original to me in some ways.
Max Trevitt, yes, sorry.I shall send it to Mr. Max, Churchill College, Cambridge, CB3 0DS?
I have it back home - I didn't bring it because the only game I have is Twilight Princess and I've completed that. There are games I'd love to play on it but which are virtually impossible to get hold of: Wind Waker, Metroid, RE4... If you could loan any this winter I really would be happy to cover postage at least (I just got sent a card-reader by my bank which makes online payments very simple).Edit: Do you still have a Gamecube?

Ah shame, I actually rooted out Zelda, Resi and Metroid to send along with it but if you just send me a PM or even send Dragon Quest back around the time you are breaking for Christmas and I'll send them on to you.
I'll send that in the morning on the way to work. Hopefully it won't take to long.

Yeah but there is something wrong about playing portable games sitting at a p.c. I think I may be able to get one running on my PSP once I figure out how to downgrade the firmware and whatnot.I think that may be one for the emulator...

Re: Tokyo Game Show 2008
Cheers. It'll be just the thing because my work load is insane at the moment, but there are often times when I'm too tired/hung over to work, read, or even play a console game because they're too harsh on the senses. What I need is a nice, traditional RPG to play on a little screen while lying down, with plenty of the delightfully mindless grinding DQ is (in)famous for.I'll send that in the morning on the way to work. Hopefully it won't take to long.
True, yes, one game I definitely want to get for the DS after it comes out is Chrono Trigger, as when I was playing a ROM of it I just couldn't properly appreciate or enjoy it.Yeah but there is something wrong about playing portable games sitting at a p.c.

Re: Tokyo Game Show 2008
Sent yesterday. I have a save game on the cartridge so try not to write over it by accident because I will have to destroy you.
I've cleared the game but there is a bonus chapter with some fun stuff to do.
Couple if things. L and R rotate the camera, I think I played the game for about 10 hours before I realised this, I kept wondering why they were putting doors building on the far side of the camera view. You may need to use gamefaqs at some point because they don't always indicate clearly what the hell you have to do.
My largest hit in the game is around 350. It's refreshing to play an rpg with small numbers. I think my hero only had around 370 health at level 38. I hope it sold well enough in the west because the 5th game is already out in Japan. Dragon Quests work in trilogies so 4,5 and 6 are all linked.

I can't imagine DQIX is going to be linked to DQVIII? I played the latter exclusively while more or less stoned, and while listening to an odd assortment of podcasts, so my associations with it are rather bizarre.Dragon Quests work in trilogies so 4,5 and 6 are all linked.

As far as I'm aware it's set in the same world. So I'd imagine it will have similar npc's. I don't think I ever finished 8, it was an impressive RPG though.
