Pullman isn't really a big part of pre-production... he's sold them the rights already so he wouldn't be heavily involved in the very beginning. They could easily still be working on getting the project set up. I just don't think they've put it on the backburner just yet.Since the Interviews with Pullman from the end of July?

What do you mean with that?I just don't think they've put it on the backburner just yet.

Sure he's not a bug part but I think he would know it when they do more or Weitz would know it who by the way also doesn't know actually something about sequels.

But they should, when they don't want Dakota to be too old.I mean they haven't put it at the bottom of their priorities yet. What do you mean with that?I just don't think they've put it on the backburner just yet.
Or maybe Warner Brothers knows Dakota Blue Richards is getting older so that's why they're stalling. They don't want to make the sequel and they don't want to come right out and say it. Solution? Let Dakota Blue Richards get older, while they don't say for sure one way or the other. Wait another year -- the problem takes care of itself, from their point of view.

I don't think that studios ever really formally announce they're not doing something... if the sequels are a no-go, it'll probably be some Forte quote to Variety or something... which in that case had better give an update on the Director's Cut!

SEQUEL for me, not DIRECTOR'S CUT.
Although they should release a proper extended version like with LOtR, if you ask me.

Maybe we will hear about a director's cut earlier because Weitz plans to hand it in the next few weeks and than it will be decide whether or not he gets the money to finish it. Very uncertain I think because of the costs.I don't think that studios ever really formally announce they're not doing something... if the sequels are a no-go, it'll probably be some Forte quote to Variety or something... which in that case had better give an update on the Director's Cut!

Neo,
are you saying Weitz is handing something in or if he hands something in in the next few weeks?
If he is, where did you hear that?

I'm also surprised you think the studios would go to any lengths to spare DBR's feelings or because they are uncomfortable telling her. I think studio execs would have no problem crushing her hopes and then having a nice lunch.

well if theyre that cold blooded that they really don't give a damn about their actors then i dont even want to know about it.
i'd send her a letter if i was the studio, i mean seriously, then they dont have to see the look on her face when she reads it. thatll make it easier for them.
hurry up and decide!

We can't expect that the actors know something, when they still work on the script.

I really don't think the actors know anything... they'll be told whether the movie got the go ahead before us obviously. But I think that won't be for at least a couple of months. We can't expect that the actors know something, when they still work on the script.
