...because I whore myself about the internet and the 'Pub is the only place I'm pretty sure she won't find me.

I found out last night that her ideal man is a tall, dark arty type. She's interested in politics but wants to be a writer. She is horribly cute and I am horribly besotted. Gah!

Thats cute! Used any charm on her yet? ;)

I find Im more attractive after you have 10 shots and a slap on the face.

So generally I forget my crushes.
Or I have interest and loose it after two months.

Okay, that was pretty funny. And perhaps a bit like myself......

I think that is sweet, Kinders. I know some very olde love spells should you need them..... :wink:

Last night, she shimmied up to me and held out her hands for a dance. We held hands and danced to some smooth reggae, and I looked into her eyes for what would otherwise have been an awkwardly long period, and, about a minute in, the song cut out and it was all over. Then we went home, and I think I sent her one too many texts.

Extended eye contact is a marvelous thing. It's amazing how what would be so awkward between almost any other two is so lovely between the right pair in the right mood..

Anyhow, sounds like you have a good thing going here, congrats. Don't fret about too many texts, though. Unless she says you're overloading her, it sounds like all is well. Good luck to you :)

She sent me a cute poem at work today. I should probably get some self-confidence and accept that, in all likelihood, I'm in there, right?

I've had a crush on the same guy for the last seven years, you don't get more self-doubting than that. :P

Certain - and I know I'm not the only one to have replied with a cute poem, so I don't even have that edge.

I'm not much of a one for asking out on dates... I prefer to have things happen organically. But I might, y'know, try and speed things along a little...

Here's a cute poem for you:
I never saw a wild thing feel sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough, without ever having
felt sorry for itself.
Man up and ask her out to dinner! You can do it!

And while we're trading poems:

Had we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, lady, were no crime.
We would sit down and think which way
To walk, and pass our long love's day;
Thou by the Indian Ganges' side
Shouldst rubies find; I by the tide
Of Humber would complain. I would
Love you ten years before the Flood;
And you should, if you please, refuse
Till the conversion of the Jews.
My vegetable love should grow
Vaster than empires, and more slow.
An hundred years should go to praise
Thine eyes, and on thy forehead gaze;
Two hundred to adore each breast,
But thirty thousand to the rest;
An age at least to every part,
And the last age should show your heart.
For, lady, you deserve this state,
Nor would I love at lower rate.

But at my back I always hear
Time's winged chariot hurrying near;
And yonder all before us lie
Deserts of vast eternity.
Thy beauty shall no more be found,
Nor, in thy marble vault, shall sound
My echoing song; then worms shall try
That long preserv'd virginity,
And your quaint honour turn to dust,
And into ashes all my lust.
The grave's a fine and private place,
But none I think do there embrace.

Now therefore, while the youthful hue
Sits on thy skin like morning dew,
And while thy willing soul transpires
At every pore with instant fires,
Now let us sport us while we may;
And now, like am'rous birds of prey,
Rather at once our time devour,
Than languish in his slow-chapp'd power.
Let us roll all our strength, and all
Our sweetness, up into one ball;
And tear our pleasures with rough strife
Thorough the iron gates of life.
Thus, though we cannot make our sun
Stand still, yet we will make him run.
Get on with it!

What if she prefers to "have things happen organically" too? Then you're ~*iguana*~.

I didn't mean it quite so fatalistically - just that I'd rather nurture a relationship than flat out ask someone out...

That is a gorgeous and inspiring poem, Peter. Let's see what the weekend brings...
