Here it is! The place where Sraffies of a certain age can moan about stuff that doesn't bother those youngsters who have yet to achieve grumpydom.
Chris, Jason, Rosie (wherever you are), me, whoever? This is our place!

You are a special case.
I'd like to say you are only as young as you feel. I really would because I think then both our good selves could apply as I enjoy moaning about mobile phones as much as the next old codger who couldn't use the phone to call the fire brigade after getting stuck halfway up his/her stairlift.
In your case you are only as old as the jailbait to you dream about. Sorry, dude.
Also..

ahh..here we go [does Pope impression, kneels and kisses the hypothetical tarmac]..
I feel at home!
OK, another musical one, not quite the same as one I wrote in the Things that Annoy you thread concerning the actual point of cloned girl groups....erm..
Why is it that so many of these female singers have gotta sing like someone is playing a saw? [imitates a saw tone going up and down, all over the place..] Example? Mariah carey. Good singer..yes.. nice pair of lungs..undoubtably..but why WHY go through 5 octaves every 4 bars...other than to show off...UGH!!
Rap music...well it sounds and is spelt very close to my opinion of it! Enough said.
MP's and their 'expenses'..oh *pineapples*... where to start.. (ah, but they haven't broken any rules...)
*tries to leave but finds himself strangely drawn to his second home..*
EDIT - I have had white hairs in the goatee for years. They are increasing, whilst the hair is decreasing...ah well, swings and roundabouts..

alex, i don't know when the cutoff age is, but judging by some of my views on various items i'd say it's less than 15.
like, as jasman said, in england recently there's been a scare about mp's expenses - its basically an allowance given to mp's for their second homes. there have been things on the expense sheets such as swimming pools, 20 light bulbs, two toilet seats and so forth. and with their salary i expect they could afford to pay it themselves -.-
one of the worst cases was when one mp decided to hire an accountant (which they don't really need anyway) to work out his tax rates for him, then put the sum of said taxes - plus the pay for the accountant - on the expenses.
his name is Alistair Darling, Chancellor of the Exchequer (aka Minister of Finance or Secretary of the Treasury), who is worryingly in charge of our finances, so should have at least some faint clue about tax rates.
but the problem REALLY is there's all these people complaining about the system, but if THEY could claim for a second home, the vast majority of them would be unable to truthfully say that they wouldnt. so really they are unjustified. now i won't complain about the mps cos i would exploit the system too. its the system that should go - its a whole bloody mess in my opinion. it doesnt say there has to be a designated second home for a certain amount of time, so theres money to be made there by buying cheap, selling expensive after a refurbish using - guess what? expenses. (ill cut off here or ill start rambling)
david cameron has an idea of what to do. lets hope he wins the next election

You may be grumpy, but are you old?

Are you kiddin? I LOVE Nickleback. I think itsa scream (for some reason the guy in the pigtails just cracks me up). Certainly didn't mean to offend any Nickleback fans..... I just thought it kinda went along with the critisms of the girley groups (and pop stars.)
Honestly, I think Nickleback themselves would like it. I mean, isn't imitation the highest form of flattery?
Now, if you are a big Brittany Spears or Paris Hilton fan, I could see you havin issue, they get slammed pretty hard (among the others....)

inciidentally, no, but do you have to be old to be grumpy or cynical?
and please do not get me started on paris hilton.
ill leave it at this. harry hill knows how to deal with her - on an episode of tv burp he said 'so what is he famous for?'
cut to a clip from a show she had on BBC3 or 4 - 'i'm paris hilton. presenter, actress, singer, dancer and model' (or something similar)
'no, what are you famous for, not what have you tried and failed at over the years.'
oh by the way, i dont think nickelback know about it, cos on tuesday they only mentioned the dfs advert, and didnt mention any youtube spoofs. (you ought to have heard what he said about the advert at wembley in september - 'do you know what rock stars do on sofas? (long pause) we sit on them!')

No, the rot can set in as early as you like, but the thread title contains the words "Grumpy Old", not "Grumpy Young" or "Grumpy Of No Specific Age". You have to be
old before you can post here. Got it? Now bugger off to the "Things That Annoy Me" thread!
Peter (feeling grumpy about kiddies invading his thread)

(last post here, though probably not)
if i should go to the annoyances thread, then what exactly is the point in this one? that theread has no age group, so is this like the retirement homes version of it or something?
besides, i thought 'grumpy old' was a common saying even if directed at younger people.

No, it's directed at old people. That's what the O word is all about.
Now, if you want to live to be old, begone!
