Anyone here likes theatre?

I, for one, am passionate about it. Also formed my own theatre company and will start producing plays as from April.

My favourite playwrights are Shakespeare, Stoppard, Ravenhill, Pinter, Edward Bond, and my good old friend, Jim Cartwright.

I've seen work by quite a few theatre companies but the ones that impressed me most were the National Theatre, Complicite, RSC and local company Theatreworx.

i've only had the opportunity to see a few shakespeare productions and one don quixote.

I really enjoy it but don't get the chance to go as often as I would like, recently wen to see Jesus Christ superstar, which was excellent and An Inspector calls, again excellent. I saw the film when I was at school many moons ago and was intrested to see how the ending would be on the stage, not a disappointment.

ooh, and in terms of musicals, hairspray, which was alright. i wish i had gotten to see lion king before sars came and scared away the tourists and thus scared away the production.

And in terms of avatars, could Lord Chaff make his smaller?

i love the way the RSC uses minimal set for their Shakespeare plays. that always impresses me. and i wonder why i fancy every guy i meet

The last play I went to was Macbeth by the Creation Theatre Co in 2002. Where? Exeter College gardens.

I'm a sucker for live theater, and as a student I get to go to all of the School productions for free!

Someday I'm going to get myslef to a Stoppard play, so that I can quit just reading the scripts and dreaming.

I saw Arcadia. Which was wonderful.

(oh, and some random translation of a play that Tom Stoppard did. which was also good.)

I saw Othello in Ashland...it was awesome, Ashland is a great place...

I think the last proper play I saw was Under Milk Wood at an open air theatre in Topanga Canyon. I enjoyed it very much.

I love theatre, especially musicals (my current obsession, if you couldn't guess, is Les Miserables, because I'm in it at school). I saw Aida as a musical (not an opera) and loved it, and I love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Guys and Dolls, and The Sound of Music.

lear was excellent. except that i didn't like the corin redgrave did it all drunk-like... or how edgar was all drunk-like...

I'm seeing Lear in a fortnight or so, but I've heard mixed reviews of this production. Looking forward to it though. £36 seats...

Even if I'm not one who's usually into musical theatre, I have to admit that I enjoyed Les Miz. I also loved Chicago and Oliver!

My real love in theatre is in Drama. A production I'm sure I'll never forget is Complicite's production of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure last year at the National Theatre.

I also count myself lucky to be in touch with a certain Jim Cartwright, who I consider as one of the better playwrights of the last decades. I'm lucky to be able to meet up with the guy to have a beer and discuss theatre.

A play I hate having had to miss is obviously HisDark Materials but it's never coincided with one of my visits to London.

The last play I saw was The Trojan Women. One of my friends was part of the chorus.

I really want to see Angels in America--I saw the HBO version, and it was wonderful, but I think this play would be much more amazing onstage. So that play, and a Stoppard play are the next on my list.

Corin Redgrave was immense in that! Admittedly Edgar was a bit off...but you should have seen him in Macbeth as Malcolm-he was worse there by far o.O We had the understudy playing the Fool when I saw Lear and he was great The best bit by far though is Redgrave's performance at the beginning as Lear-he was so entirely childish in the role it was hilarious xD
