there's a huge civil war going on in the democratic republic of congo... but there's barely any news on it. four million ish people have died, and supposedly it's like the rwanda '94 thing... why is there so little news coverage?

Because as Daniel said, they're too busy covering the war in Iraq... which is important... I do like to know how my brother is doing... and since he forgets to write, we have to listen to the news. But other than that, all I've heard are little in-state stories. I think they should cover the news in Congo too... Where'd you find out about it?

i had to do a french assignment... read a french newspaper article without using a translator... so yeah, i think the only countires involved right now are french-speaking ones (congo used to be a french colony), france, belgium, et cetera...

does anyone know what's going on in liberia?

Con...go? Whats Congo?
...
whoa, you mean there are actually COUNTRIES other than those weird ones in Europe and that freaky one above us with milk in a bag? Oh, and we can't forget the one below us that breeds all our employees.
Seriously, we discussed this in Sunday school class (I'm forced to go) and we concluded that:
there seems to always be wars over there, it's nothing new. People want news. (Or who J. Lo's new boyfriend is)
I disagreed. I think people are just stupid and we don't care enough about the world. Especially backwater countries, like that, that don't (as far as I know, admittedly, very little) really have an effect on us.
Plus people want to hear about our heroic deeds of slaughtering Iraqi culture rather than some weird dudes having a war that has gone on forever and in all likelihood will continue.
